    An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. A host based firewall can not only prevent a lot of worm/viruse exploits, it can also show you what is trying to go ot to the net to "phone home", or bind to a port and create a back door. Not only that, but they are nice and free for personal use.

    yeah thats kinda extreme....

      And yet today there is a nice lil story about how there are more flaws in security programs than in the core OS. So slapping on a ton of "security" software may be hurting more than helping.

      Prevention is key. Prevention can be accomplished in a number of ways. Some simle hardening on any system will prevent most infections before you are digging through the registry and booting in safe mode.
