Hold over 04 v6 mustang vert. The coupes are going for 14ish, should be able to find a vert for 18 or so.

I would deffinitly get an Acura RSX. The Type S is fast, and looks really nice. They are really good on gas, I think something like 26 mpg. If you want a new car it would probably be over the 18K but you can get a good 2003 one for aroud that price or cheaper.Bad Traders: Brice34, complete total fraud, lied constantly and stole 60$ for an egg Comment

Doubtfull, almost every 05 v6 on lot is loaded down with options due to the huge GT shortage. Most are coming in at 19.5-22.5 loaded out.Originally posted by ottomobileGet an 05 mustang. Lots of upgrades and you can get a brand new one for the middle teens.Comment

you have 18k handed to you. that's more than I've ever had at one point in time. I don'teven know where to begin. Maybe you're taking for granted it's your first car.. you don't need to spend exactly 18 on it. Get a good low mileage used car and use the extra to modify it. If I spent 18k and ended up with a stock car.. i'd feel silly. I was going to finance an 05 mustang GT... said no. Got an 03 GT with no miles and loaded it with goodies.Comment

Jeep. As long as you don't drive like an asshat, you'll be fine. They're not made to go fast, anything over like 70 in a Jeep is scary(The only reason I know is from being in my friends when he was trying to get home after puncturing his gas tank while we were off-roading. We were doing 70 in a 35. Definatley not recommended.)
They're awesome for offroading. They can fit in tiny trails and stuff that trucks would be screwed in.Classic RT - RT02667

My input is ...Jeeps although very nice looking we are talking first time driver.. Not a good Idea. They handle pretty rough and flip pretty easy if you are talking "scootablity" so, Id pass on the jeep.
Also, advice on all the recent "dang it I crashed my car" posts I'd learn to drive before you got something out of 4 cylinder range. Cobalts are cute cars but, first year model not always best to buy first year sometimes they havent worked all the "bugs" out.
I'd say go with a focus or something along those lines they've been around for awhile and have pleanty of parts to upgrade with.
I'd learn to drive before doing too many upgrades, insurance hardly ever covers everything you put into the cars.
Good Luck!Comment

If you're looking for speed I would buy a motorcycle. You can get into a hell of a ducati for under 18k new, and used you could buy the fastest bike on the street. But then again you might want to live a little longer, so i throw my vote behind a nice used camry. you should be able to get a pretty loaded model with low miles, and they are extremely practical cars. Lots of passenger and trunk room may not sound glamorous, but your friends will really appreciate the leg room.Comment
