I am so freaking pissed off I could cry

I just got a laptop last week. I was surfing on it and layed it down next to my chair for a moment. I asked my daughter to go and start the dryer. She gets in a huff and jumps up, putting her foot right through the LCD screen, busted the lid and who knows what other damage.

    hooooooooly crap.

    time out time.

What kind of laptop was it? You might be able to get the screen replaced under warranty...hopefully.

    but that sucks

Did she mean to do it? I'm hoping she just forgot it was there, because that would be pretty malicious otherwise.

Totally accidental. It could have been avoided w/o the puffy attitude...or if I had simply set it in my chair instead of beside it.....but none of that makes it suck any less.

The only solution is to buy a new laptop and give her the broken one for christmas.

I can't stop laughing over this. Yeah, just wait until she's about to head off to college, then rub it in her face. She sounds pretty young, but you can last that long. Hold onto that rage.

Actually this may be true. The replacement LCD screen is only about $100 less than I payed for the whole laptop.

Well, if the screen is busted but the rest of the computer is OKay you could just put a regular monitor on it and make it into a desktop.

Maybe not, it depends on what's covered. Is it visably broken, like is the screen cracked, or does it just not work?

well, if her foot went "right through the LCD screen" and "busted the lid" I'm pretty sure that it is visably broken

call in and get a accidental damage protection plan if your manufacture has one availible.

I have ADP plan on my laptop, I could throw it against a tree and it would be covered.

you can usually upgrade your warrenty for the first year. give it a shot it cant hurt
