i loved the movie though, the girl screaming all the time got a bit annoying. but other than that, its great.
one thing i dont get though, all the power stopped right? the phones, and even his watch.... so how did that one guy have a camcorder when the tripod came out of the ground just before he got zapped.
i have seen this movie a few times and im still lost on that part

was the battery not in the camcorder during the storm and that saved the battery? thats all i can think of

Why, when the martians (never actually mentioned as martians, just as invaders) first emerged from the ground in their doom machines did they just disintegrate everyone, when they were seen later seen eating guys, disintegrating guys makes them inedible, dumb aliens. I guess the kid surviving that giant wall of flame is pretty dumb too.

I still liked it though, it was pretty spooky and had fantastic sound.

So how did they grow them without "fertilizer" on their planet? There are a lot of holes in this movie.

Considering the story it was based on was written over a hundred years ago, I think some plot holes are excusable.

Is there a fourth movie now? I don't remember snape ever killing dumbledore. Or are y'all talking about that new book? Or is this a joke? It's carrying on for a while.

EDIT: Now that dumbledore is gone, harry potter can finally die. woohoo!

The origunal question was "why did the shields go down," not "what killed the aliens." I guess when they died they all fell on the "shields turn off" button?

Now you go an spoil the ending of a video game (as played by someone that can't figure out why a cardboard box is an odd thing to see crawling around)?

OK, my biggest question about the whole movie is this:

If they were here millions of years ago, to bury their machines, which they would use to take over the planet . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . why did they not just stay when there wasn't anybody to take it from. They could have just as easily used the dinosaurs as fertilizer, and since there was only the one big continent, they wouldn't have had to chase them as far.

I don't know, maybe believable sci-fi has ruined me, but I didn't really like it that much (that, and the intolerable stupidity of both Ray and his kids).

If I had to hazard a guess, it was because the climate wasn't right at the time. I don't get why they didn't just stick to Welles's original premise, and have the martians come in giant cylinders. Would have eliminated the whole series of questions.
