well, 1 year down, 1 to go and there has been a teaser trailor released.....and omgozzers!!! Well just look for yourself

IMDB profile A bunch of big names and meduim names throughout the cast of humans. Also note the big names and movies done in the producers list. Looks like they are calling out some major big guns with this one.
Note, they have not officially said any of the voices of the bots themselves. So as i stated earlier about Clooney, that may or may not be the case. I know my brother (eagle) who has also been following this closely said they are going after many of the original voice artists for that genuin feel.

I would love to see a live action Robotech or Macross.... Problem is that A Robotech film would have to be about 9 movies to cover the series decently.

YES YES YES! I've wanted this for years! But it wouldn't need ot be that many movies. Figure 1 for each of the 3 wars on earth (you might need 2 for the first war, film them together and release them a few months to a year apart like they did with the Matrix sequals or LOTR trilogy). But the Masters and Invid invasions could be told in one movie each. Then one movie for the Sentinals (maybe 2 like before) and one for the final (don't remember the name of the book-just book #18) movie for the return to earth of the SDF3.
