If we just drilled in Alaska we could be self sufficient and not have to rely on OPEC or Canada ever again!!! Why haven't we done that yet!!?? Oh yeah, because if we did we'd be disrupting the migratory patterns of the caribou... so in order to save those meaningless animals, we have to get raped every time we fill our gas tanks. It's called priorities, the bleeding heart liberals have none. If anything, this is the opposite of Bush and the conservative republicans' faults. It's the liberal Democrats' faults. Let's make ourselves self sufficient gasoline-wise first. Then we'll worry about an animal that has no real use for us. Or we could kill them all and then not have to worry about their migratory patterns!!!

ANWR is thought to have somewhere between 4.3 and 11.8 billion recoverable barrels of oil.

The US consumes about 20.4 million barrels per day.

If we could magically recover all of it at once, it would mean not having to rely on "OPEC or Canada" for somewhere between 210 and 578 days.

Maximum output of ANWR drilling is thought to be 1.35 million barrels per day, or 6.6% of the US's daily consumption.

Well there are so many things that caused this for us. Not all of it is about consumption. We have pleanty of crude oil, the problem is refinement to gas.

If we started drilling today in Alaska we wouldn't see oil for 2-6 years to get it all online and piped here in the states.

Our problem is the lack of refining capacity. We have not built a oil refinery in decades, the reason being, to meet the new polution requirments its not money smart to build new ones.

Coal fired powerplants get built under new regs because they can sell off thier GREEN points. They earn point for being clean and under the polutant levels. They can then sell those points to older or dirtier plants for a profit. Oil refineries do not have this option.

They need to take a look at the rules for a oil refinery and rethink it, they also need to fast track 2-3 ( at the least ) new refineries with lower levels of emmisions but maybe not 100% to the ( current ) set standard. This protects us from the problem of loosing refinery capacity to storms and other acts we cant control.

Everytime over the last 15 years there has been an issue with a oil refinery there has been a bobble in the gas prices. That should have keyed people off to the problem.

I saw at least 2 stations that offered BioDiesel, I thought that was rather cool.

As to dipping in to the SOR thats just to feed the refiners until oil shippment can start pumping through the harbors that got screwed up in the storms. You think that .35 cent jump was a bastard, think of that would happen if 4 or 5 refnieries couldn't make gas because the supply is disrupted.

I have been trying to buy my gas from BP/Amaco as I was told they dont use Middle East oil. I also have a buddy looking into the break down of where we actually get our oil from.

I think I got most of it, but still expect gas to hit $4 sooner rather than later.



I'll get my buddy Joe to jump in on this one, he has some insight into this as he is a Geologist.

The charger hood would bolt right up as i recall, but I am not sure that if you would have to use the fenders & front end parts or not. The Charger lines are way differnt so you would need to do something to make it look right.
