I'm not trying to be a jerk, and maybe its a lack of empathy. I often enough hear the idea "this happened because I'm ___________" rather than for a credible reason. Passing the bar for example has nothing to do with who you are, it is about what you know and your attributes. I would like to beleive the same thing is true of admission to schools, in fact the law as I understand it gives certain individuals more regard than others. That being said I understand a political system (such as appointing / electing judges) is going to have some things in it that are not right.

I don't think you're being a jerk. As of right now I'm planning on being a lawyer, and I don't expect special favors for being female, so let's just make that clear, hm? My professor merely stated that he would like to see more female lawyers and judges, but that the male-dominated environment in law schools can be both oppressive and hostile, not so much because of the admissions and whatnot, but because to become a respected lawyer and professor you have to have been around a while... and sexism is inbred into the profession. *shrug* It;s like lifeguarding, but I do it anyway.

Echo-- take this as a learning experience and try not to do anything like this again, drunk or sober, mmmkay? There's a reason why everyone tells you drinking and driving is bad, AND why there's an age limit on the driver's license.

Take into account what derek is saying, and how lucky you got off, and please, for the love of god, don't do it again.

You didn't say if you had a good lawyer or just a court appointed one. That can make a huge difference in how bad you get busted.

I had been drinking that night, the cop new this, I stupidly said I had been... He didnt rite it down on the ticket, because he was going to let me off on that... Is it possible to prosecute me for the alcohol if its not the reason I am in court. and such?

And what did you do do be in court?

and what are the court fee's like
