It might just be that I live in the south (Raleigh, NC) but rap is huge here. All the popular radio stations play mostly rap. It's hard to find a half decent station around here. A few years back there were a couple decent stations but they went to oldies/alternate rock of the late 80's/90's type of music. That music isn't all that bad but it just baffles me that it is so hard to find a decent metal station. You'd figure that someone would have had a lightbulb pop into their head when they realize that metal is regaining a little strength.

Am I the only one that thinks "\m/" is pretty stupid?

      Dropkick Murphies

Wont hear them on your local Clear Channel stations (and if you do, well then thats good!)

to add to the Green Day crap, they have gotten such a bad name, for doing nothing wrong. They were once punk, but catchy punk. Since then they have kept the catchy part, but dropped the punk, this is alright. If they dont wanna be punk anymore no one needs them (in the punk world that is). However they are a crap load easier to listen to than much of the junk on Clear Channel these days, so all in all, i dont mind; and i think its time you let it go. Hey they sold out, thats cool; i hope there having "the time of (their) life(s)." If your only claim to punk is you "hate" greenday and all they stand for, then grow up, purchase a bad religion disk, and/or just give up and become a Disturbed fan.
Tom was the last of a now extinct breed, a breed of players who build a community, a breed of owners who gave to the sport never taking more than what they deserved. I hope to see you at the feild again some day....

heres a list of what is currently on my i-tunes...
the ataris, blink 182, box car racer, cky, disturbed, drowning pool, godsmack, jimmy eat world, green day, the killers, him, jimmy eat world, less than jake, linkin park, offspring, seether, sevendust, slipknot, stone sour, sum 41, system of a down, unwritten law, staind, bloodhound gang.

so a majority of it is pop/punk. i dont give a crap. its what i listen too.
i can pretty much handle most music, with the exception of screamo, and most hardcore music. im sorry i dont like thrice, atreyu, killswitch engage, lamb of god (even though they put on a good show when i saw then open for slipknot).
        "wtf is a CKY!!??!!"

tough call, i treally can't say that i have a favourite band, more like favourite songs. let's face it, all bands have some crappy songs.

at the moment i'm listening to:

              orgy
              powerman 5000
              rob zombie
              adema
              the killers
              avenged sevenfold
gorillaz (some very cool and catchy tunes)
older HIM (really only "right here in my arms" and"wicked game" from razorblade romance)
oh my god (very good for not having a guitar player, sort of outgrowing it though)
              stabbing westward
              earshot
              tatu

i'm really not into emo/screamo. to me they all sound the same. that and i'm still holding a grudge.
you see, i'm a people-watcher, i like to go out and find large groups of interesting looking people to watch. i had one all ages club where they were all gothed out, it was great to watch.
but ever since emo exploded into the consciousness of all of the moody teenagers in my area they have gobbled it up and changed.
now instead of getting to watch a bunch of peirced, tattooed, heavily made up goth kids whining about sex and their parents, i am forced to see a bunch of thrift store wannabe hippie emoers moping around talking incessantly about global injustice and pot while drinking too much coffee.

I am really into the british type bands right now.. Travis and Keene are really high on my list, and as always cold play and oasis (love thier new album). But really anything will do, just dont sing aobut losing your dog, wife, beer, mother and truck at the same time.

Went to the ska is dead tour over the weekend and saw mustard plug plus the toasters. i've always been a big fan of mustard plug but wow did they absoluetly tear it up as did the toasters. They get a special mention in my book for being real rad guys and rockin the ska for the many years that they have.

avenged sevenfold i like as of fairly recently.

Maybe i did not read close enough, but i did not see Megadeath anywhere untill now...

I like all music as long as it doesn't suck.

Megadeth is cool too, but their problem is that they release a great album followed by a crappy one. I bought "The world needs a hero" used a few months ago and that album was pretty lame. That album was not very good compared to some of their other works.
