Dude, you gotta fix that thing up.

People have won serious SCCA events in fairly lightly modified festivas. Heck there's even a motor trend article on how they pulled .91g with a festiva. (that involved sway bars, new struts, and decent tires)

One more note. You have the same engnie block as a 1.6l miata, 1.6l escort, 1.6l mx3... I could go on. but I'll mention the important ones. you could put in the 1.5l from a Kia Rio, or the 1.6l from a escort and instantly have more than 100 horsepower. And if you wanna go crazy, the turbocharged 1.6l from the 323 GTX and 323GT drops in. 132horsepower with 220 just a few injectors and a MR2 turbocharger away.

And to match the new found horsepower, you can put in the front spindles and rear axle from an aspire. GAining larger drums in back, and ventilated disks up front.

I assume you have the 5 speed? If you have an automatic, I feel sorry for you ;-)

Did I mention I have a festiva fettish?

                        As for what I run.

                        1980 Suzuki GS550E 63,000 miles
                        Far from stock...

Open GS550L Exhaust (I love those megaphones..)
                        GS650 Fork
GS650 Block, Pistons, Head, Carbs (that means 673ccs)
                        Pod Air filters
                        80ish horsepower 450lbs.

                        1983 Suzuki GS550ES
                        Bone Stock
                        63hp 480lbs

                        1983 Suzuki RM250
                        Boysen Reeds
                        FMF exhaust? I think
                        Aftermarket handlebars... of some vintage..
                        Crappy plastic levers
                        40hp 260 lbs.

The RM looks like it was played with hard and put away wet... There's a lot of work to be done to make it a decent looking bike again. The ***** fould it's plug the first time it saw an off road park. That anoys me. ;-)

The ES was at a suzuki dealer for 9 years before My roomie found it.. It's got some very light rust on the pipes, and it's missing the left side lower fairing. Otherwise it's in frighteningly good shape for a 22 year old bike. All it needed to run again was a carb cleaning. (yes, I started it on decade old gas...)

The E is the bike I crashed on. I've rebuilt it, repainted it, and made it MUCH faster ;-)

Bear_claw: 500lbs is a lot for a bike with only 35 horsepower. ;-) Then again, it's a cruiser, and I ride a standard. It's a good demonstration of what the difference in engine layout can do for the same size engine. I'm wiling to bet your engine redlines around 5500. Mine is somewhere around 10,000. my torque peak is in the 7-8 grand reigon. The yamaha is cam in block right? I've got a XS400 in the garage that fragged it's cam. And a spare engine with the same affilction. *twitches* Seems like yamaha really fudged up that motor design.

                          Yeah cam in block.

It moves its self fine for me as its my first bike all the power is really low on this thing. I getting a few goodies to help it out a bit this winter pipes carb jets and maybe the hypecharger too.

The bike pulls REALLY strong off the line but addmitedly does not have a whole lot in the upperend witch is fine by me as 0-140km/hr go by PLENTY fast and any faster and im ASKING for trouble. YThe biggest thing about it is its SOO SMOOTH and great in the corners.

I want to get a seat for it this winter too cause after around 3hrs im DONE.

Im really happy with the way this bike is built/rides so when i do up grade i probl just go to a 1100 V-Star.

I like the aircooled engines and Shaft drives of the vstars too.
