Lotxc that VW will be driven into the ground LOL. The doors are pretty rusty now too (plan to replace em soon) and i gotta fix some surface rust thats just surfaceing on the wheel wells now. I also plane to remove all the black molding and gt the whole car painted either the original white or blue like my truck. Even considering trying painting it myself as i have the tools to do it just never tryed befor on that kinda scale. The cars just a good daily runner and is AMAZINGLY cheap to run. Its slow and not too comfy for long huals but as a daily run around NOTHING beats it. I have the truck and bike to play with the car simply goes through life as a workhorse.

Once the cars done i have plans fro the engein to mate with some other toys .

Bear_Claw ... I hear you on that. I had a line on a nice MKI Rabbit/Cabbie ... but when I went to check it out it was in worse shape than the owner explained. Missing all interior door cards, and virtually all the wiring was gone. Could have handled the interior stuff, but not the wiring ... a little to much for me to replace.

One more note. You have the same engnie block as a 1.6l miata, 1.6l escort, 1.6l mx3... I could go on. but I'll mention the important ones. you could put in the 1.5l from a Kia Rio, or the 1.6l from a escort and instantly have more than 100 horsepower. And if you wanna go crazy, the turbocharged 1.6l from the 323 GTX and 323GT drops in. 132horsepower with 220 just a few injectors and a MR2 turbocharger away.

And to match the new found horsepower, you can put in the front spindles and rear axle from an aspire. GAining larger drums in back, and ventilated disks up front.

I assume you have the 5 speed? If you have an automatic, I feel sorry for you ;-)

Did I mention I have a festiva fettish?
I'm already a regestered member of FF.com. Look on the forum, I have the same name.
You forgot the BP series motors from the Escort GT and the Miata. You said the Escort had a 1.6l but the most popular swap from them is the 1.8. The Aspire brake swap you're talking about has Disk brakes in the back.

And no I have the 4 speed 89 carb'd PoS model. So my options are limited to B6 sohc carb unless I do a wiring conversion.

I did not mention the BP becuase it will not fit without MASSIVE changes to the transmission and driveshafts. It's not an "easy" swap. (due to the engine being some 2" longer) At least last I saw the 1.6l conversions were more common ;-)
