Correct ... the original Internet (or more like what the Internet grew from), AKA ARPAnet and then later DARPAnet, was first developed by the Advanced Research Project Agency which then later became the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency. Originally linking up just a handful of Universities (MIT, Berkley, and Santa Monica) and then growing from there.

Specifically Tim Berners-Lee ... the father of WWW, and pretty much every major web browser today (and not Al Gore). Which if you have ever done anything using Gopher then you know how much the world owe's this man and his ideas of using hypertext to make it easier to things.

I was playing Civilisation 4 the other day, and I was playing as Britain, I build the Internet wonder in London (my capital city) and once it had completed a message popped up saying "Jonneh has completed the Internet" that made me laugh, also the icon for the wonder is a little picture of Al Gore.

Later in the game I drew inspiration from Resident Evil 4 and destroyed the Spanish, then you jerk americans got all sassy so i decimated you as well, the remaining countries then voted me President of the World and I won the game. True story!
