My Home Built Mini Bike VID FINALLY

Well some of you may remeber me building a mini bike for a local competition early last summer and posting up the pics and pomising a vid witch i never delivered due to lack of a host larg enough for the file. Well after a few paint vids i relized Google would do it and i guess better late then nevor so here it is the long promised vid of the FIRST run of my home made mini Bike (GPS recorded top speed of 50km/hr witch is VERY SCARY with a SINGLE bicycle style brake and my VERY fisrt time arc welding LOL .

    Specs and competition rules:

Build a two wheeled bike powered purly by a lawnmower engein an asseemble in 6hrs on site of competion. Oh and through in the LIMIT of a $300 budget providing recites and it becomes DAMN HARD.

Once build time is completed you ar lined up for a drag race 100' and back winnier takes the trophy and the pride of the B.A.D Ride biker build off champion.

My bike a comglomeration of a childs bicycle a adult bicycle a school bus drag link a 5hp Brigs and straton side shaft engein a Gocart centrifugal clutch and some angel steel and a trailer tire along with farious berings and dudads lol. Oh the pluming water pipe used for a straight piped exhuast .

Pics of the bike are here
I have many more detailed ones i ya like. Got any questions on it ask LOL its in peices now in my garage now waiting for next years challange. Gona use a NEw frame and chain drive next year.

Vid HERE FINNALLY!! (now watch it not work LOL)

"OK, so it's not so fast."

Understatement of the year. But really, that is cool!

LOL That is great. The video is better than the still photo. It really brings the character of the bike out.

Isn't 50km/hr about 25mph? That thing should be able to go faster than that. Play with your gearing a bit and remove the governor (we blew up a 5hp briggs that way once but it saw a lot of ungoverned use, one race shouldn't hurt it).

50km/hr =32mph. Not fast by anymeans but on the budget and for the time allowed for the build its pretty decent. And trust me it FEELS REAL FAST when you only have a SINGLE front stock bicycle brake.

Again it was on a budget of only allowing $300CDN and you had to provide recipts so i had to make do with what i had. Next year i useing alot of the same parts but useing a chain drive setup with a larger rear pully to allow for more off the line. and am gona wled up a coustom built frame fo it. Also runing the engein governed but am gone run a second throttel contol ungoverned for a tad more contole but still be able to run safly wide open for fooling around.

you know, there are alot of aftermarket parts for those motors... If you just happened to slip a bigger cam in there and had some valve work done, some bigger valve springs and a forged rod.... that thing could spin 7k and... the motor would look like a $200 bringgs motor.

You need another "down tube" the frame is already bending.

Why stay with a 5hp, hunt around, you can find an 8 or bigger for under a hundred bucks.

Thats true i can get a bigger engein BUT the competiotion is still ona have a $300 limit. SO if i use parts from last years it does not count toward my Limit.

So I keeping all salvagable picese from my last bike and putting it into the second one so i can spend the cash on other improvments. That 5hp engine was fine it was the drive train that killed the speed so a little tuning and a little modding and itll be fine.

The winers lat year basically bought a scrap mini dirt bike and put a BRAND NEW "donate" 11hp ride on lawn mower engein on it on with the a similar clutch as i had on mine only chain drive. They were WAY over the Alottd budget and it was blantetly obviouse but they got around it by stating alot of it was "donated". Personally i don want that i kinda like going in with a challenge and will do so even if it means little to no chance of sucess in the race. But think how funny it be if the 5hp rig beat that 11hp monster thats returning next year.

Oh the winners recorded best speed was 52km/hr but it rocketed off the line. Im shure if i mod my 5hp and drive train enough it will give a good run. Remember too after moding that 5hp is not gona produce just 5 hp . And at any case it was and WILL be a blast.

Here's a picture of a Mini bike I built a few years ago. I just picked up a new 6.5 horse engine about 2 hours ago. I think I'll build a springer frontend, short ape hangers, spring the seat and repaint. The kids will love it.

Looks pretty good you make the frame yourself?

Probly cost ya a tad more than $300CDN to build but looks A TON better than mine LOL.

Next years is gona be MUTCH better for me i makeing a new frame and running the same size tires. I TOO was considering running a Springer Front end if mony permits and i was planning to leave room for a 11hp engine for the year following LOL.
