Is anyone else battling with Gamestop about your xbox360?

I reserved my Xbox at a gamestop that happens to be right in the middle of a wealthy town, Moorestown NJ. I reserved it back in May and they told me i was "guarenteed" my 360 the first shipment becasue I wasn't that far on the list and they were capping it at a certain number. So I get back from college Friday night all happy, then I check my answering machine and its Gamestop "Sorry, we do not have enough 360s to fullfil the first order" So I think, ok whatever I'll get it next week. They call me back the other day and tell me that I probably wont get it until AFTER christmas. This is when things start getting fishy. I talk to another one of my friends who have the same problem with the same gamestop, but hereserved his earlier then me. I'm starting to think the people at this gamestop are selling them out the back door (they are going for $1000 on ebay, all of em) to wealthy businss men in the town. Reason why? Cause I knew kids that worked at a different gamestop and I have heard stories of there employees buying up hard-to-get items and selling them out the backdoors.


Anyone else have problems like this? I'm calling up Gamestop Corporate later on to find out what the hell is going on.

Sounds like its time to take your business elsewhere. I, for one, would not give them a dime if they modified their original agreement in this way.

call them up, tell them you know their employees are pawning them on ebay, say you either want what you ordered tomorrow, or you want the 1.5k to buy back your console from ebay .

There not selling them out of the back door. Gamestops all across the US got shorted their original orders. I was 182 and I was guarenteed to get one on the launch day. I wasn't really expecting that but they said that they had 200 ordered for the launch. I got called and told that I would not be getting my xbox until some time early next year. I got to reading some forums and it turns out that every gamestop got shorted about half their order.

Yeah, that is the story 'round here as well, though I ordered mine from EB. Hell, the reason that I went with them was that I asked them if i paid fully for mine up front if I would have one on launch day. They said that was their policy. I repeated the question, and they said the same thing. Now, i'm on the "Second Allocation" list... I'm not worried though, as I am hoping that any delay in getting it might mean that they iron out the problems that is seems to have.
I'm just think how lucky they are that here in PA verbal contracts are not legally binding.
But, seriously, 1.5k for one on ebay... if i had that kind of money for one of those things, I coud afford to wait. because I can garuentee that they will have some in for the X-mas season or lose a butt load of business. (I hope).

From what I hear from various people working at different stores is they did not get the amount of 360's that they expected. Our Wal-Mart here only got 8 of them. And won't get anymore until January at best.

Got mine at 7:15 EST Tuesday November 22nd. Haven't had a problem yet. People need to take the booklet out of the packaging and notice that it says the thing needs air circulation.

heh, this reminds me of the PS2 launch. I was lucky and worked out a deal with an EB in my hometown and they overnighted my PS2 to me for free. For some reason launches always seem to go like this, there's always some problem in production or distribution and people get shorted.

talked to huys at EB games in 3 states and they all said that the preoreder list wont be fulfilled till FEB.... absoultley ridiculous if you ask me...... best bet is to go to wal mart or target at 5 am when they get a shipment in......
all this delay is because this week is US release next week is Europe release and week after that is Japan.... normally they are spaced 6 months apart for just this reason
