So... I got Sirius Sat radio...

Well I got fed up with "free" radio and all the stupid games that are played with it and I got a Sirius sat radio. Although I now have to pay 12.95 /month I am very satisfied with it. The only drawback is that I have to tune it through my FM radio and going from OC to LA counties radio stations vary. None the less... Howard Stern, Bubba The Love Sponge, Maxim radio, and 20 rock stations have kept me very entertained and I will NEVER go back to "free" radio.

Has anyone else done the same? Comments?

I was also thinking of trying out Sirius...I listened to their broadcast online just to sample the various stations. I must admit, if and when I do buy into satellite radio, it will be Sirius that gets my money.

But why do you have to tune from your FM radio? Is it the set up you have?

I have looked into it mostly to get ESPN radio - seems how my local station will interupt the shows for there "highschool basketball hour" or such...

I just despise the FM broadcast thing. The one I have for my IPOD drives me nuts, I have to shift frequencies every 3 minutes. I'll get Sirius when I can have a deck that has it built in.

I just got it a couple weeks ago. Love it so far. It's amazing how fast you get annoyed when going back to regular FM radio. There are a lot of solutions for getting rid of the FM modulation... look around on the sirius backstage forum on their website. If you have a tape deck, use the tape-audio converter... they work well.

i have XM for all my cars and my house, all of which cost $60 ($30 for the unit and $30 for installation charges at circuit city) it works GREAT, and i find it to be better than sirius plainly for the features on the unit itself rather than service, which is about the same eerywhere

XM is partially owned by Clear Channel which is the devil that destroyed free radio and made it so that you have to listen to Kelly Clarkson and {insert_cat_howling_sounding} simpson slut every 5 mins.

XM can suck one as long as Clear Channel has anything to do with them.

so is sirius really that good. I just got a new deck for my truck and it said it was sirius ready but i wasnt sure if it was worth it to buy it. Are there any other parts you have to buy to get it other than a membership.

I just want this stuff gone, super low prices

well if the truck is sirius ready then all you need is a membership, because its already wired into it! if it costs more than $50 to set it up, just get a mobile unit from circuit city or sumthin...... in the mercedes E serieses it cost $1000 to hook up the sat radio...... and another $1500 for the GPS...... i got both of those on sale for a total of $900, $830 for a mobile GPS and $60 for the XM raido, which i still believe to be better than sirius

Clear Channel is a provider of a service, the FCC is what brought down "free radio."

In my opinion XM has a better channel line up. Not to mention more live broadcasts and triple the subscribers of Sirius.

I've got sirius aswell, and I have to say that the stations are extrodinary, though I would not mind one bit, if I wasn't reminded that Im listening to sirius after every song. I bought it, I realize I am listening to it.

And you might want to check taht statistic on hoe many constomers sirius has, they're costomers increased ten fold when Stern was signed for a 500 million deal for 10 years or so. Turns out there was over a million New Yorkers alone who signe dup for sirius, they love their Stern.

I wish Stern didnt ask ,on every single show, to every girl on the show to take her clothes off over 20 times. Personaly I can only hear a man ask a girl to take her clothes off and feel her breasts about 1000 or so times. Hes a creep.

I don't have Sirius or XM, but I just wanted to say that Clear Channel sucks donkey-behinds. Seriously...as far as I am concerned, they are to FM Radio, what Communism is to the free world. It would take a while to explain why I feel this way, and I don't want to hijack the thread. I just wanted to say that Clear Channel sucks, and may they all rot in hell.

My mom's new car came with XM for free for a while...I really was not satisfied with it, I personally would have rather had a tape deck with a converter for my MP3 player. From what I hear Sirius is wayy better.
