Where do you buy a backpack?

Ok, stop laughing now. I was homeschooled through highschool (parents decision, not mine). Didn't really need a backpack seeing as how all my books were . . . well there already.

So when I started college, I pulled out my old Jansport backpack. And it broke yesterday

I checked out the bookstore and didn't see anything I particularly liked. I guess what I'm looking for is one of the over-the-shoulder, bicycle messenger bags. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Where would I look for such a thing?

Your best bet is a place like REI or EMS.

For just a book bag any place like Walmart, target, kohls will have a selection. You can also check at sporting good stores. I think even office supply stores sell bookbags.

you could also go with a paintball backpack...

QFT if you want a messanger bag spend the money and buy one of these. I have 2 one of them is over 10 years old and took ALOT of a buse for many years and shows very little signs of wear. Waterproof and easily accesorized you can't go wrong with timbuk2

LL Bean for great quality. I've had mine for going on 8 or 9 years now and it still works great. Have used it for everything to books (and lots of them at once), to camping. It currently works as my gear bag for paintball.

Personally, I go to EMS for a Northface backpack of some sort. Really durable, but a little pricey.

i went to sports athority and bought a golf bag...carried all my books and didnt rip. teachers did give me alot of crap having a golf bag for a backpack.

REI or something to that sort then I keep the backpack for like 4 or so years and can use it for hikes and such (just to clarify I don't mean back packing backpack I do mean bookbag backpack)

i had a backpack from old navy last me 4+ years, Some of the straps started to let loose and i duct taped them, It held together though and was quite awsome, it had a "grunge" look to it.
