    wow, another computer thread?

Ok, I'm building a really nice system for this kid and I would really like to have other people take a second look just to make sure everything is compatible.

    HDD- http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch...iteria=AA33200

    Video Card- http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch...iteria=AA41630

    processor- http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch...ria=MB-BA21465

    mobo- http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch...iteria=BA22262

    ram- http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch...iteria=BA20668

obviously I have the case, power supply, and fans worked out already.... My only question is, is the hdd and the mobo going to work together? The last system I built was my own, about 10 months ago, lots have changed.

I dont see why they wouldn't. They both use the SATA interface, and the hdd isn't faster than the mobo...

Okay, I'll have to make a couple comments...

If you want an x2 proc, get a 4400+ or a 4800+ the other ones have a 1mb cache versus the 2mb cache of the 4400+ and 4800+.

If you really want to build the kid a nice system, pick up some nice ram please. 2gb isn't that expensive to purchase too. (I got my g.skill 2gb kit (timings 2-3-2-5) for 145 dollars.)

Also, what PSU and case are you getting? What about cooling?

I also wouldn't trust any thermaltake. Especially for psu. Try and get an Enermax, Antec, Hiper (if you want bling factor), Silverstone, Seasonic, or the PC Power & Cooling psus.

edit: have you tried looking @ newegg.com or zipzoomfly.com for parts too? They have different varieties and they might have better prices on certain parts. Zipzoomfly has free shipping a lot of the time so it might be worth it to check it out.

Western Digital all the way for Hard Drives. I have learned that lesson before and more than once. I will never buy another one that is not Western Digital.

Zipzoomfly.com has the best service when it comes to hard drives. Newegg also has good prices but look around. I'd also avoid using pricewatch unless you're going to buy only one part.

Ugghhhh, I hope you are not going to build that system!

Horrible ram, horrible motherboard, WHY on earth would you pair an X2 with either of those is beyond me. NEVER use Gigabyte for 7800 series cards, and that Seagate HD is quite possibly the worst model they produce.

Sorry to burst your bubble but that is one crapfully crappy build.

Yeah I kinda agree with you on that.

                      X2 4400+ or a 4800+ reason already stated

Ram CORSAIR XMS, but the kingston will work.

HD Stay away from seagate. WD or maxtor much better choices

MB Dont know how that board preforms, but I have alway used abit MB and they are great IMO

Video Yeah ummm gigabyte video cards are funny to me. I have had better performance out of lower end cards from different companies. Then I did with higher end gigabyte cards. IDK I also would rather go with an ATI x850 the 7800gt

Instead of just right out criticize the build, you could at least recommend different parts.

Okay... Since mango dissed on you and everyone is suggesting and I already suggest... I decided that you're hopeless enough for me to lay out a decent system for you to buy and build...

                              For a REALLY NICE SYSTEM

                              PROCESSOR: AMD FX60
MOTHERBOARD: Ask Mango, I'm an mATX guru... But DFI is always good
RAM: Buy at least 2gb, buy low latency. Buy from good brands (corsair, patriot, ocz are ones I would suggest. I personally run g.skill)
HD: I'd actually suggest maxtor. All the other brands are dropping in quality. If you want silence, buy samsung. Buy SATA or SATAII drives.
Video: EVGA, BFG, Nvidia. Those are brands I trust. Buy an SLI configuration.
Sound: buy a sound card please. buy a creative sound card please. xi-fi card would be really nice.
Cooling: Buy a 500 dollar phase change cooler and make a watercooling loop for your video cards.

THIS WOULD BE A NICE SYSTEM. BUILD IT OR YOU SUCK AT COMPUTERS. Oh wait... you want to have a nice computer yet still save money? THEN DON'T SAY YOU WANT TO BUILD A REALLY NICE SYSTEM.

                              .
