As someone who was stationed there, let me tell you the thing about the no passing sign (a no cruising measure meant to cut down on traffic, dumb I know), and the statue of Neptune, and the carrier under construction AREN'T IN NORFOLK. The carrier under construction is in Newport News, and the sign and statue are in Va Beach. The Calzone sign I don't know. As for the carrier under constuction, how do you figure it's a secret? It is almost certainly the USS George H.W. Bush CVN77. As for the other pics taken on NS Norfolk, they are of SHIPS, not BOATS, and the pics, unless taken by an official Naval Photographer or from a tour bus, were taken illegally. As for the F14, yeah, it's probably the only one there, seeing that the last 2 sqaudrons just flew them for the last time into NAS Oceana just up the road.

Uh, sorry, this wasn't meant to be a commentary on the city of Norfolk. Just some random pictures from my weekend, and I sort of mentioned where each one was taken, but I guess they weren't clear enough. There were some "jokes" thrown in, if you will. Man I knew somebody was gonna get on my back about the F-14 and ships vs. boats, I already regret posting anything here, jeez. Anything from the Norfolk base was taken from the tour bus (totally not worth the $7.50, half the tour was spent on the state houses), so don't get your panties in a bunch.

lol, never took the tour being stationed there, but that doesn't surprise me. I'd still like to know what you mean by a secret carrier though.

As for the Cruising sign, you could get busted by cops on patrol who see you pass. How common is it? No idea.

I saw a sign in California above a garbage can that read "Trash Only."

So, if I put something in a garbage can, it doesn't automatically make it trash?



They also had 17 MPH speed limit signs.

what if you have to drive to a certain location on the other side of that sign, and then back to your starting point... within 2 hours and 58 minutes?

one thing to make a bit more clear about the anti-cruzing sign is that these are right on the main strip of va beach. it is a very short stretch (mile or two), very crowded on the hot summer nights (tons of people and tons of cars).

plus if cops are patrolling and see a bright purple 95 eclipse blasting vanilla ice, and then an hour later....it would probably be hard not to see the same 16 year old driving the same car blasting the same music. so i think it is more directed at them.
