I know you said pump, but I can't speak higher of my Browning Citori. My Baretta semi seems to be working OK, but I wouldn't get another one if my life depended on it. My Dad had horrible cycling issues, that led to even worse customer service issues. Mine did develope some cycling issues as well, but my customer service issues were not quite as bad (still not good). Knock on wood, it seems to be working OK now.

        Benelli Nova

12 Ga. Pump. Smoth pump, easy to break down and oil, low maintnance, best purchase I have ever made! Get one, you will not regret it. Nice features, like the magazine stop button (makes hunting multiple game and switching cartridges so much easier, that is my favorite thing). Great pump for sure, I love mine to death. Here I shoot clays with mine every chance I get, and it is a great gun for hunting most game. It can also shoot any length shel, 2 3/4, 3, or 3 1/2 inchers. It comes with three chokes, IC, F, and M, so it is ready for any application right out the box.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, it breaks down tool free! Everything you need to break it down is already on the gun. It takes me just over 60 seconds for me to completely break mine down. All you do is unscrew the mag cap, and use it to remove the 2 bolts to take the reciever out of the stock, and just pinch the boat valve and lift it out. Here is the manual, look at page 24 on to see how simple it is to break down

Ahh, you were trying to run 3 dram skeet loads through a Berette Extreme too huh? Hehe.. on the plus side Beretta has shown good customer service so far in dealing with this one.

I do believe he was asking for a cheaper gun, so I would second the advice of a remington 870, very solid reliable shotgun. I also absolutely love my browning bps. A citori is neither a pump nor "non- expensive" though they are beautiful looking and performing guns.

Thirded, the 870 is a solid workhorse. Just clean it when needed. it's very easy to break down.

however, it is a little harder to shoot doubles than an auto or a double.

i was shooting doubles with a pump yesterday.

tried a triple, but the thrower couldn't throw 'em far enough.

It would have been easier with a double, you know.

ANd Iwent I said breakdown, I meant to take apart, not breaking.

I can testify that the Nova is way easier to break down (I have cleaned and lubed both). I love my Nova. I feel, having shot and broken down both, that the Nova is better. The 870 comes in second, and probably the Win. 1300 in third. Any should be fine, I just am partial to the Benelli. Like I said before, best purchase I have ever made bar none. Also look at my first post, I linked to the Nova manual so you can look at how easy it is to breakdown, take a look. Whatever you pick should be fine though.

The Rem 870 is great. I have a Mossberg Maverick Model 88 that shoots well and haven't had a problem with it. Picked it up for $150 after BG check at Wally World. If I had a bunch of money to blow i would get a higher end Berreta, Mossberg, or Benelli.

Mossberg 500 is low priced and gets the job done. If money was not a concern a FN tctical or more appropriately, the Beretta Extrema would be my choice.

I have a Winchester 1300 prep'd for the impending zombie invasion... its an old friend of mine and wouldnt part with it for the world.

However I suggest everyone to look at Remington 870's Mossy 500's first and foremost... Benelli and FN if your swimming in cashola and only buy the best /muhahaha (would be me but I <3 my old Winny 1300 defender)
