    Lucky Luc has retired...

The official National Hockey League website including news, rosters, stats, schedules, teams, and video.

One of the greatest, no scratch that, the greatest Left Winger in the history of hockey has finally called it quits after 19 seasons. As a King fan and a hockey fan, it is tough to see great guys retire. He is one of the nicest professional athletes I have had the pleasure of meeting.

Can't wait to see the #20 in the rafters @ the Staples Center.

No, that would be the "Ex-Disney Anaheim Mighty Ducks of Los Angeles"
The Kings have always been in downtown L.A.

I knew Luc's retirement was coming. There's nothing more he can do for the franchise--as a player (not his fault).
Hmmm, Murray gets fired, Luc gets retired...do I smell a new head coach brewing...?

All in all, I will miss Lucky Luc. Now if they can just get Blake to come back to L.A.
            Come home, Rob. Just...come...home...

I want Lappy back personally. Ship Avery elsewhere. Also Blake wouldn't be bad but he left a bruise on the town when he left (go to any Kings vs Av's game @ Staples and you'll see what I mean) At least when Luc left he left on good terms. I however don't see him becoming a head coach, not this soon. Maybe an assistant and I really doubt he will leave the organization. Who knows though, the NHL could use more players like him.

Yeah well, they should have never gotten rid of Lappierre, or Palffy. Big screw-up there. As for Blake, I know everyone was pissed as hell when he left, but in a way, you can't blame him. He'd been with the Kings for what, 11 years at that point, and the guy just wanted a Cup. Robataille did it...just not in such a surprise moment.
I can't blame guys for wanting to go where the championships are. Look at Karl Malone. Too bad the Lakers couldn't deliver for him.

Overall, I think L.A.(fans) would take Blake back in a heartbeat--they just won't admit it.

That's like the equivalent of Mark McGuire going from the As to the Cardinals. Everyone forgot where he came from when he became a superstar...even himself. Poor Blakey needs to come back home...his home needs him.

                          Dave Taylor Fired as GM

Now they (Kings) go and fire Dave Taylor...
                          Damn man!

Not only Dave Taylor but the whole coaching staff and to be honest I was expecting it. With 12 free agents it will definitely be an interesting year next season. However, I have seen teams make these changes and come back stronger then before.

They need to start a Luc Robitaille Award. It would be awarded annually to the player who leached the most goals off his center.

Not to take away from Luc, but half his goals were solely because of Gretzy.

For example, Cheechoo would win the award this year.
