The worst we did in chemistry was light Mg ribbon on fire. I tried to get the teacher to let us play with Thermite, but he never would give in.

We have an annual thermite burn!

Science club kids go outside, and put piles of thermite on random things, and light with mapp gas torches and mag ribbon.

Well, the teacher does, but the kids tell him where to place it :)

They ususally do it in the winter, so you see about a 4 foot circle of foot deep snow just go bye bye.

Only reason I enjoyed HS chemistry was because of the girl that would sit one seat off to the side of me that always wore a short skirt and a low cut shirt. Oh and she would let me copy her work as well. :)

Did you ever get to play with natrual gas bubbles?

Chem teacher would pump natural gas through a water/dish soap mixture and we would put the bubbles in our hands. FIRE IN YOUR HANDS!!!

The chem teacher would also threaten to use hydrogen filled balloons to wake up the class. Fun stuff.

Probably because of the whole most unstable element in the first 100 thing. And the fact that only about 500 grams occur naturally in the earths crust, tough to get your hands on.

Heh, we have this one Chem teacher at our school that does this sort of thing...everyday. Mg ribbons are just the start in that class. Quite a few people take those ribbons from his class and have some fun...

Then again, he also admits to running over his dog with his lawn mower.
Hey, look at that! It's Santa!
