In my never ending pursuit to modify everything I get my hands on -- I have now turned my attention to my plain-jane Norinko SKS. I added a longer polymer Monte Carlo stock to allow for better overall balance considering the Chicom SKS's were sized to fit small dudes -.-
. A spare sling from my AR15 and just recently upgraded to a red dot from Bushnell. The problem with all SKS's is that they do not have any provisions for optics.
This is solved by adding the "SKS Scout Mount".
This aftermarket item allows a small weaver rail to replace the standard rear iron sights with no permanent modifications. Then all you have to do is find a suitable sight or scout scope. The nice feature about this mount is that you have a rear notch grooved under the rail if you do need to use irons. So far it all fits very tight and looks high quality. The ultimate test is how it all holds zero after a couple hundred rounds of Wolf 7.62 -- we'll see. BTW - I hated the standard irons, plus my eye's are going so the red dot was my logical choice.
I may be adding a small rail for a tactical light -- maybe the M3X. But thats for another thread. Now if I could only find those battery powered chop sticks ... hmmm......

I forgot to throw out the Bulgarian bayonet I have with it, but the Kukri gets the job done too, LOL. And just to keep with the weapons design roots, I had two cases of 7.62x39mm hollow points (Wolf) delivered fresh from the Tula Ammunition Works in the Motherland. This is a CQB and mid range shooter. It has (7) 30 round Bulgarian waffle mags but a nice ChiCom 75/100 round drum would do her fine.
