    Any Personal Trainers here?

i do believe i remember reading that someone was on here, so if you are, or have any ideas, feel free to reply.

Anyway, no matter what exercise/eating habits i try, i can not get any muscle/meat on where my ribs are. my stomach area has become pretty tough, but my ribs still stick out despite all my efforts.(including numerous thousand calorie diets).

so, what im looking for is to bulk up where my ribs are. any input?

          OMG hi2u!

Your goals are not unpossible, however the methods you are using to achieve them could use some refinement.

Consuming "thousands" of calories will only make you fat. What you should be doing is monitoring the intensity of your workouts and combining that with a moderate protein, moderate fat, high carbohydrate diet.

*gasp!* Did he say high CARBOHYDRATE?

          Damn straight I did.

/bandwagon "But won't carbs make me fat?!??!"

          NO! THEY WON'T!

Carbohydrates are a vital part of a balanced diet, and they actually help your body build MUSCLE. Your ideal mix should be:

60% of your diet from Carbohydrates
30% of your diet from Protein (lean sources such as pork, chicken, fish, 99.9%lean red meat)
10% of your diet from Fats (lipids, this includes Omega3's, Omega6's, flaxseed oil, safflower oil, etc.)

Now, people at GNC and at local gyms who get their education from the covers of "Men's Fitness" magazine and bodybuilding.com will say

"You need like .9 grams of protein per pount of body weight to build muscle dude."

Well you know what, if you want to lower the functional lifespan of your kidneys and you don't care about slowly poisioning your liver for years due to increased Uric and nitric acid then by all means, consume .9 to 1.0 gram per pound.

If you want to know physiological FACT, you really only need about .7 to .8 gram per pound. So if you weigh 180 that would be about 144 grams of protein per DAY. Round it up to 150 if you like. Go ahead, you deserve it.

So, in the end, wtf am I trying to say here? Well I'm trying to say a few things.

#1: Increase the INTENSITY of your workouts. Workouts are a function of Frequency, Intensity, Time and Type. Those of us who went to college call it the "FITT" principle. See that, it's like Fit!!!!! *sigh

#2: Make sure you are eating a well ROUNDED diet. One that involves a high carbohydrate/moderate protein BREAKFEST. With another snack about 3 hours later, then your lunch. then another snack 3 hours later, then your dinner, then an after dinner snack if you like.

#3: Don't believe the hype! Consuming "weight gainer" or anything that comes in a tub large enough to fit a puppy in will NOT make you BIG. Guess what, they call it a "supplement" for a reason.

            MANGO's BACK!

            awsome, thanks for the input.

right now i pretty much only get my protein from a few pieces of chicken/fish a day, so ill have to google some way to measure it

chances are im way below that protein level, so lets see how that and some more working out does

so build more refineries? how many harvesters per refinery do you think?

calories make you fat? that's sooooo old school. nobody pays attention to calories anymore. it's all about proprietary methods of counting. it's like fps if i get more kills than deaths it's good. if i get a 10:1 kill ratio that's better. capturing resources gets me more points. suicides count as negative kills. i typically end the day (round) with a score of like 200-10. TAKE THAT GLYCEMESSSSSSS!!!!

oh sure carbs build muscle. are you saying that we might actually need energy to build muscle? or are you trying to imply there's other things besides protein in our muscles? either way i think you're insane. including fats in your diet!? fats make you fat! ... don't they?

i'm confused. this metric stuff is confusing. can you put that in terms of pounds of beef? preferably in the form of wendy's cheeseburgers.

function!? is this going to be on the test? can we get a cheat sheet? open book? what does the graph look like? do we need to know how to take the derivative?
