    Outlook Question

Ok, random question but here goes.

If you have access to another mailbox in Outlook, you can view it by going to File -> Open, and then typing in their mailbox name.

But then you are stuck checking that mailbox seperately.

I KNOW its possible to link their mail to yours so their mail pops up in your inbox. At my job our dept uses a common mailbox for some things, and about half the group has it delivered straight to their inbox, the other half have to check the group inbox seperately, but no one knows how to set it up that way and IT here sucks.

Does anyone know how to do this? Then I could set up a rule to divert all that mail into a seperate folder and it'd save me a lot of hassle.

The only way I can think of is to setup another email client but one that checks this 'other' inbox, however I think that once you have read it then the other people who you now have their mail can't get to it. So unless there is a heading in the 'to line' that could enable you to add this as the new client. For now I think you are stuck with the way you are accessing that mail.

When you have outlook setup to check more than one, you get a separate "inbox" for each - since they are two separate e-mail addresses... I monitor a couple e-mail boxes for some of my accounts for work and each one is a separate inbox.

I wouldn't mind if it was multiple inboxes, as long as it was still in one window with the one folder list on the left.

Its having two email windows open that is annoying the hell out of me.

forward the emails from one account to the other?

I have a few mail accounts setup to forward themselves to my main account, while keeping an original copy in their own inbox

So, i have all my mail in one box, but if need be, i can open a seperate box, and see which mails came from that address, etc etc.

          Btw, only newblars use Outlook.

          thunderbird, FTW.

          Or browser-mail.

You have two options, this is wiith Outlook 2003/Exchange 2003:

            1) Have your IT department set the Exchange account for the other user to deliver messages to you as well. This will let you respond.

            2) Go to Tools > Email Accounts > Click Next > Click Change > Click More Settings > Click Advanced > Click Add > Add the account here. Permissions will need to set up appropriately for you to respond to email.

If he's going to File > Open to get to the other inbox, his company is on Exchange. Thunderbird isn't worth much with an Exchange server, you can check your mail, but that's it. So it's Thunderbird FTL here. OWA won't do much either, he might be able to open other users inboxes, but won't be able to do anything other than read mail.
