    who celebrates kwanza?

my school is having this big debate w/ the town to put up kwanza decorations. My town wants our school to put up kwanza decorations as well as others, xmas, jewish etc. But i don't know anyone who celebrates kwanza! why should we? I have never met a kwanza celebrating person in my life, even two years ago when I was in africa (kenya)! do any of you celbrate it?

People who aren't African American generally don't celebrate Kwanzaa.

Also: People in africa don't celebrate it, because it was 'invented' in something like 1966, by Ron Karenga ( can someone verify this?)

Its a holiday to celebrate African heritage. It was created as an alternative to Christmas for blacks. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kwanzaa

Because seperate but equal worked so well??

I mean seriously, I thought this was America, not seperate, equal because we were not. Now we have to have seperate holidays?
