    Here we go again

I imagine that after today I will more than likely be on the job hunt again. I hope this isn't a sign of how my year is going to be.

I am over six weeks past a promised review. About six months ago, I was offered another job (that in retrospect I should have taken) that payed considerably better than where I am now. The problems being a long commute and long hours. As part of the agreement reached in my staying at my current job, I was to get a "significant" raise upon my review.
Two weeks after my review time had passed I made mention of it to the owner of the company. He acted suprized as if he didn't realize it was time. Almost immediately after that, his wife, who runs the office(and wears the pants), started in on the nitpicking. She has gone through every thing she can with a fine tooth comb picking out every minor detail and pointing it out in an attempt to circumvent the agreed upon raise. Not been said in so many words, but to all appearances sake its what it looks like. She is absolutely insufferable and nothing happens there without her being involved, thats another peice of the story which I will not get into.

Friday of last week, I finally lost my cool and went off on the boss. I was completly subordinate, which is generally out of character for me at work. I have been a lead man/ manager for years and know better. My partner and I informed the boss that we were taking tuesday off as well(even though it wasn't scheduled) and left.

This morning I am calling a meeting between the owners and myself. I am hoping to hold them to their commitment, and point out and solve some problems that need attention. I will probably be let go like many before me when they tried this. I have the advantage of having the entire crew behind me and ready to walk as well......not that I am counting on them keeping their word either.

Obviously I agree that they should be held to their word.

That being said, as a general rule those who tell me how to run the shop I'm at (and manage) are given two options: write the check large enough to purchase it at market value and they can do it however they want, or get over it.

To an extent, the same thing happened to me.
I was working in a shope for an hourly amount of pay.

I was promised benefits and higher pay, salary actually, but it was always 'Next Month'.
I got a small raise, but it was no where near what they had promised me.
When I saw that there were problems beginning to grow, I let them know how I felt, and pretty much told the owners off. They told me they paid me decently, blah blah, but they weren't, and they never made good on their word.

A few weeks of me working 65-70 hour weeks turned into three months, and they finally offered me salary. Quickly doing the math in my head, it would have been less than what they were initally paying me. Insulted, I began to look for another job, and when I found something that paid better.
I also love this new job, better pay, better working enviornment, and I'm not working ALL the time anymore.

All of my previous regular customers have followed me to my new position, and on a somehwat related note, the shope I once worked at went under.

      I lol'd verbally at this.

It was franchised, and they had already lost a store due to poor planing and management.

For the NAME itself, it costs $30k. To open a store with no equipment, it costs $250k. That's also strictly in liquid assets.

It was terrible to see someone lose just over half a million, but that's life, I guess.

I hope things work out for you.

Triangle, I find myself wondering if you have worked where I am...? lol

I called the meeting with my boss(es) and many things were discussed, most to no appreciable solution. I am already on the job hunt.
