I imagine that after today I will more than likely be on the job hunt again. I hope this isn't a sign of how my year is going to be.
I am over six weeks past a promised review. About six months ago, I was offered another job (that in retrospect I should have taken) that payed considerably better than where I am now. The problems being a long commute and long hours. As part of the agreement reached in my staying at my current job, I was to get a "significant" raise upon my review.
Two weeks after my review time had passed I made mention of it to the owner of the company. He acted suprized as if he didn't realize it was time. Almost immediately after that, his wife, who runs the office(and wears the pants), started in on the nitpicking. She has gone through every thing she can with a fine tooth comb picking out every minor detail and pointing it out in an attempt to circumvent the agreed upon raise. Not been said in so many words, but to all appearances sake its what it looks like. She is absolutely insufferable and nothing happens there without her being involved, thats another peice of the story which I will not get into.
Friday of last week, I finally lost my cool and went off on the boss. I was completly subordinate, which is generally out of character for me at work. I have been a lead man/ manager for years and know better. My partner and I informed the boss that we were taking tuesday off as well(even though it wasn't scheduled) and left.
This morning I am calling a meeting between the owners and myself. I am hoping to hold them to their commitment, and point out and solve some problems that need attention. I will probably be let go like many before me when they tried this. I have the advantage of having the entire crew behind me and ready to walk as well......not that I am counting on them keeping their word either.
