Dubai is our logistics center for the transportation of our personnel. I have been to the mall there a couple of times.. never snowbaorded though.. I am a klutz so I think I would end up breaking a hip or something like that.. lol.

Been here 102 days now.. 12 hour days one after another... I have yet to have a day off. Oh well that is what R&R is for (41 days away).. going on a cruise with a friend of mine! WOOT!

    Anyway.. stay safe everyone.

I haven't posted in a while.. So just thought I would let the AO crowd know that I am still alive.

Things at Anaconda are heating up, mortars are flying fast and furious. Man, I am glad I am not there right now.

Which begs the question, well where exactly are you? Well I can't tell you specifically as I am on a temporary assignment at a small FOB somewhere in Iraq. I can tell you that I like it here much more then back in Anaconda.

Some pictures to share with you...

My ride to my "undisclosed location"

Me. Not much to say there... white sidewalls... haven't done that in a while.

Took a bullet to the windshield of my truck just before leaving Anaconda.. Thank God (and Dupont) for bullet resistant glass!

Even in a war zone the sunrises can be spectacular....

Well thats all the news fit to print... Stay safe everyone. See you at Tunabal '08!

I just got back in Jan, I am with 2-37 armor out of friedberg , germany. My crow truck got blow to crap and I had to load it on a low boy an take it down to Anaconda. Nice base. Better then all the other places i was at, Fob stykes in tel Afar, then we got extended and went to ramadi and was at fob blue dimond.

                      Greetings,
It was just a normal day today out on the FOB. The dust devils were playing tag across the desert, the sand flies were buzzing around the porta-john when we got the word.... "All hands to the MWR... All hands to the MWR -- That is all."

What the hell? Ok. I saunter myself over to the MWR (Morale, Welfare and Recreation building) and all the brass are there... the bosses are there... and everyone has big smiles and there is cake, and cold soda... I am thinking what the hell is going on when 3 of the most enormous people walk through the door (well duck through the door) and they are pressing flesh and signing autographs and all that... It was great.

Turns out the NBA sent a few of the guys over to say "Hey" to the troops and continue the message that America is behind the troops and that they are proud of us.

We may not get much of anything out here, but it does make my day a little easier when Shawn Bradley, Thurl Baily, and Greg Minor want to shake MY hand and offer ME praise.

                      It was a good day...

Yes those are nearly 8' ceilings... and yes I am that short.

Today is a very important day in American history. On July 4th, 1776, a radical group of men did sit down and form a new nation. This nation was to be special as it was populated by the 'common man'. No more monarchy from far far away dictating policies without representation. Ours was to be a government OF the people, BY the people, and FOR the people.

While we may have seemed to lose our way at times as a nation, our government is still the finest on earth.

It is an HONOR and a PRIVILEGE to be here serving this country, and while I am not in uniform, I serve her none the less by directly supporting those who are.

Iraq will be free someday and I hope I am around when the people of Iraq join together in peace to celebrate their independence day.

This is a picture of The Standard of the United States of America which flies day and night over the FOB where I am stationed. It is a proud beacon of promise to this embattled land.

To me there is no finer symbol representing the fight for freedom in our own country and here in Iraq.

The white -- for purity of purpose, the noble fight agaisnt oppressors and tyrants.

The Red -- the blood of patriots and our forefathers; all of whom have given so much for us to be free.

The Blue -- For courage. Courage to be steadfast of purpose, to be a voice for the voiceless, to bring light to the dark, and to bring hope to the hopeless.

I love the USA, and I miss it more and more as I am over here. But I know that in my heart we are doing good here and that eventually history will bear this out. Just as in our own history, our nation was born of blood and sweat. So to here in Iraq is a country being born.

I would ask each and every one of you to take a moment and reflect on what it means to be free, and the debt that all of us owe those who have paved that road with their souls, spirits and courage.

God Bless the USA and all who serve Her!

                            Happy 4th of July everyone.

...and it is time for another revolution too! Our politicians represent us just as musch as the former royalty across the ocean did.

                              GOD bless our country!

Well, not even close to Balad. I'll be in a certain Greek alphabet named FOB near Al Kut airbase.

At least nothing much happens there....still....hopefully.
