I don't know how many MMA fans there are in AO, but did anyone happen to catch UFC last night? Holy crap, Randy Couture is the MAN! He put the beat down on Tim Sylvia to capture his third HW title. I was so freakin happy I wanted to go break stuff

    War Randy!

Yes, it really was one of the better PPV's, despite a main event that on paper, looked like a terrible matchup. I almost didn't get it becuse I'm a couture fan and after his last couple outings, didn't think he looked that good. I really didnt want to see him get a gigantic beat down. Sylvia is a monster - god, he had almost a 12" reach advantage and had randy by over 40lbs. But, I had to get it and see if randy could at least make it a good fight....and, well, it was like a second xmass in March.
            Randy is a freakin LEDGEND!

I'll tell you what, I didn't expect the babalu fight to end like that. He's beaten a lot of guys and really only lost to top tier fighters. He had to get rocked early by that first shot, because he never recovered and continued to take punishment the rest of the fight.

I kinda thought the Hughes fight wasn't that great too. A lot of LnP. In the last two rounds, it really should have been stood up. Heck, look at the couture fight, he was a lot more busy and they were stood up in the later rounds. I dont think he looked ready to contend again for the title.

McFedries/Kampmann - OMG what a sweet sub! When he passed up the mount I thought "what are you doing fool?" then BAM! LIGHTS OUT" I mean that guy was cold! That was awsome, especially after eating those fists in the standup.

            ufc68 = 9/10 great show.

OH, and BTW, if (and I should say "when") Crocop wins his next fight, the rumor I heard is the winner of couture/sylvia would be his next.

Rougue, don't know how much you watch, but what do you think of a Crocop/Couture matchup?

Did anyone else find the sylvia/Couture fight a bit of a let down? They were staling almost the whole match, and after the inital pwnage in the first round they just layed on the mat for the rest of the round.

I'm glad couture won don't get me wrong, but I was expecting a more exciting match than that.

After looking at the fight results, I wasn't sad i missed UFC 68.

Two decisions in the main card fights? One of which was a title fight?

I was surprised by Jason Lambert, and I'm glad Franklin put McDonald in his place after McDonald went 2-0 in the UFC. I'm more glad to see Sylvia lose his title than to see Couture win a title.

Def cant wait for Cro Cop to fight again, and there will be a free UFC Fight Night Live in early April for free on Spike TV. I couldnt get UFC 68 because i was playing a 24 hour scenario that was awesome.

well, Gonzaga is 3-0 in the UFC. who do you want him to fight?

Brandon Vera? That would be a good one....

aw, Brandon Vera is in a contract dispute? Maybe thats because hes a badass and deserves more money and he knows it. UFC should take care of him.

haha I would love to see Ken Shamrock get inspired by Randy Couture and come out of "retirement" to battle Cro Cop. That would be an absolute whoopin' with Shamrock at the receiving end.

Ya, Shamrocks done. I love the guy, but he shoulda hung it up after Ortiz 1 and then the Franklin loss. Either that, or kept kighting the older guys, ie. kimo, etc...

Going back to the couture fight for a sec, just wanted to agree about Big John not standing it up in the first - that was a good call. Also I thought the match was far from just "lay and Pray", Tim could barely see out of his left eye in post fight and he was fairly marked up. Couture worked him over pretty good. IMHO that was a heckuva fight.

They also have an interview from Randy who said one reason he came back at the heavyweight division was the prospect of fighting Cro Cop.
Thats where I heard about it. I pop over to sherdog once in a while. Didn't see the Dana interview or the Randy one. Hmmm, thats pretty bold from Randy, wanting to fight a guy, who to many, is the number one fighter in his weight class. I've only seen Cro Cop fight a couple times, but he seems to be as tough as they get. Randy seems like a new man tho. His stand up looked way better and his cardio seemed great too. I'll be buying that fight, no question there.

Gabrial Gonzaga has beaten Kevin Jordan (Stoppage), Fabiano Scherner (TKO) and Carmelo Marrero (Submission).

I've see scherner fight a couple times (TV and a PPV) and I keep thinking I've seen Jordan too. The nickname of the "shaman" sounds real familar. Saw the Marrero one on the Liddel/Ortiz PPV.

Anyway, Ya, I remember him now. He wouldn't be much of a step above Sanchez. That fight was terrible - but I understand the UFC had to bring Cro Cop in and kind of "introduce" him. Can't see them just moving him to a title fight right away. That being said, CC/Gonzaga is not a good matchup. I can't believe there isn't a more seasoned fighter they could put in there for the CC title "warmup" fight.

I guess Dana is playing it safe - just more red meat to the lion. He dosent want to put someone in there who has any legitimate chance of winning before CC/Couture.
