Hrm...doesn't that defeat the purpose of driving a hybrid? I would expect more even for the worst case scenario, imo.

I don't think the acetone is going to do anything to help your mileage, especially if you're buying good gasoline in the first place (think Exxon, Shell, Chevron, none of that Wal-Mart or off-brand crap). My dad knows (or at least knew) the guys who mix the gasoline at Exxon's Baton Rouge refinery. They take a surprising amount of pride in their work and are very precise.

The best tips for getting good gas mileage are these: First, drive conservatively. Don't accelerate unnecessarily, it's not a race to the next stop light. Try to keep it around or below 2000 rpm, you'll be amazed at the improvement. My 4.0L Jeep Cherokee gets amazing mileage when I drive like a sane person. Second, take care of your car. Regular maintenance is an absolute necessity, not just for gas mileage but for the life of your car and your safety. Don't cheap out on maintenance. You'll make up the added expense in the long run by spending less money on gas and not having to fix major problems or buy a new car sooner than you'd expect. And lastly, don't buy a big car with a big engine if you don't need it. The latest fleet of Honda hybrids get ridiculous amount of gas mileage without even sacrificing a great deal of performance to do so. The early problems with hybrids are no more.

Just don't believe every kook you hear yelling crazy stuff. If all these crazy ideas worked as well as they claim then we'd all be using them.

Where is your proof? Oh, wait you only think that it won't work. So there is nothing to say that it will or won't.

That is why caveman has offered to try it. For all our benefits.

that was my average for one 5 minute drive where i was, uhh, sort of in a rush.

and I doubt that acetone would really do anything. well, anything that significant. the video said that supposedly the acetone evaporates at lower temperatures (which it does) but i dont see a reason why that would provide more power with less gas. the video implied that the reaction would go closer to completion, but the reaction should be balanced well enough already in a properly carbureted or fuel injected vehicle. what im thinking is, the volume of liquid added is not recorded, so that would increase the mileage calculated, especially if the gas tank isn't full. either that, or the video is propaganda created by an acetone manufacturer

Also remember this is going to raise the temps of your combustion, so not going to be good for many parts of your car, may cause detonation on higher compression and forced induction engines which is going to retard your timing and cause a major decrease in your gas mileage and power....

everything else, well very good stuff to follow
The Lucas additive is such a heavy weight oil that you probably decrease your mileage just using it.

Honestly, in the car I run it in, I haven't noticed a difference, but I use it in there because of severe engine wear and trying to keep it going till I can get the engine and transmission swap. Its currently in my 91 supra, starting to get some ring blow by, and my valve guides are shot, it does help reduce oil usage.

Your right in a way, your car is not performing as designed to start with.
