Motivation you ask? My motivation is to not look like behemoth. (Just kidding, really.). In all seriousness my motivation is more physical than anything else, and I do not mean that as some sort of vanity. I've been doing it for so long I genuinely feel like crap if I don't make it to the gym. On top of that, I've got this damn voice in the back of my head that tells me how much I suck for skipping a workout. I'm an addict, what can I say.
Excercise? What's your motivation

This may sound unusual but I really enjoy the feeling of a good pump, pushing myself as much as I can. That feeling itself is enough for me to get motivated.
Plu sI have a good gym partner.
p.s. One very handy tip that I use is instead of eating 3 large meals a day or 4, split them into double that number eating more regularly but obviously half the portion.
That way your metabolism is kept at a constant high, yet you are consuming the same amount of food that you would normally do anyway.
It's worked well for me.Last edited by Phillips; 05-15-2007, 12:05 PM.Comment

if you're just looking to drop weight, look into joining a league of some sorts, basketball/soccer. Or find someone to play racket ball with, that'll burn some calories.Comment

For me, I found that after dropping PE Junior year, I started to get out of shape. This year, I've started doing (almost) nightly pushups, crunches, sometimes squats, and recently handstand pushups, and it really helps. I've still got a layer of fat, but at least I've got triceps... I also try to stay as active as possible in my other activities. I like going out and throwing a frisbee around with friends, or just going out and doing stuff. Even just traveling, getting in and out of the car, walking to where I need to go, doing whatever it is, then coming back, etc. adds its little bit.
But yeah running. I really don't mind it once I start, but I have trouble motivating myself to go get changed into running clothes and then go out and do it. Plus, then I know I'll need to shower immediately after, which annoys me cause I shower right before I go to bed...you know you play this game too much when the neighbors stop fixing their broken windows...

Biggest thing about eating late is what you eat. Its actually good to eat something light about an hour before bedtime to keep you metabolism going through the night. Just no simple carbs. Try a salad or something grainy. If you go too long without food your body will actually start eating muscle for energy instead of fat (and we dont want that now do we.)Originally posted by SCpoloRickerYour diet is actually very important to getting into and staying in shape. Yes, eating late is not a great idea.
Simple terms; eat 5-7 small meals throughout the day. Lot of fresh food, veggies and fruits. Lots of chicken.

Like Ricker said, 5-7 small meals is much better for you than 3 really big ones.Comment

one other small tip.. dont always take the easy way.. if youve got a few extra seconds you could spend doing something by hand rather than doing it the easy way it all adds up... I work on aircraft and small things like carrying tools boxes myself and walking them out on the flight line rather than using a tug to get the tools there burns calories without me having to think about it....Comment
