so heres my theory on the story line (if anyone knows differently feel free to chime in)

Megatron came/crashed here on earth and the US is "holding" him captive. Perhaps by constant submersion in liquid nitrogen..?? Bumble Bee is stationed here to keep an eye him and allert the Autobots if the S hits the fan. So the Deceptacons come on down to free Megatron and of course the Autobots roll up to put a stop to it.

and yes most of this theory comes from watching the trailers over and over again.

I heard somewhere (on the back of a movie tie-in toy I think) that Megatron is 'missing' (so the assumption that it is him in the tank is probably a good one) and Starscream is in charge (OMG ). He leads the Decepticons to Earth in search of something called 'The Spark' and the Autobots follow in hot pursuit. As for when BumbleBee arrives, I'm guessing early on, maybe as a guard of some sort, who knows?

Eagle is getting warmer, but he's not entirely correct. For those reading both Transformers threads, the question thecavemankevin was asking about the cube the young hero is holding is related to something Eagle pointed out.

Bumblebee was always the scout of the group. He was one of the only ones that was really super close to any human.


Basically "the spark" from what I hear, is something that could swing the battle for either side. The Autobots are following the decepticons to keep them from getting the advantage.
