    Canada... Milk in a Bag?

So.... in Canada, milk is sold in a bag.... does any one know the reason behind this? I cant quite explain why but this really bothers me.

Milk originally comes in a bag, a big pink one with it's own heat, and four spouts. If anything is "not right" thats got to be it.

Cost. It's cheaper to sell the product in plastic bags than it is in plastic jugs. Quarts (or litres) still come in a cardboard container (at least in ontario).

sounds like a great food fight grenade.
Or better: tape a pin needle to it and throw it. Needle pops hole force of impact sprays milk. That's awesome.

The farm up the road from my old house in WI sold their milk like that. They even sold their juices in bags now that I think about it.

mmm, a milk filled meat bag, yum! It's not just Canada. In the Navy our milk came in 5 gallon bags, and I remember visiting my grandparents in Wisconsin and they had milk in a bag (both meat bags and plastic )

Bags allow little to no air into the package, reducing spoilage.

Milk in a bag isn't weird or crazy.. The single serving bags are the ones you drink with a straw and get at schools and such.. then you have the larger bags like pictured above which you put into a milk jug that holds the bag. I never knew milk in a bag was a Canadian thing... I thought everyone had that option.
