    Official Numbers Lie

I'm not sure how the "official numbers" were calculated, but anyone watching the parade could see that the Germans were easily outnumbered at least 3 to 1. On the airfield, we were suppossed to have 300 players but only had 15. On the online registration, there was a problem that did not show the airfield as a registration option at all.

The night game that was suppossedly equal in numbers was also a rout. It was very difficult for the Germans to see anything when attacking the base with those bright lights glaring off our googles. It's hard enough to be on the offensive at night, but to add blinding light to the equation made it impossible!

I'm really not complaining because I was on the German (losing) side. This inequality also existed last year, and I was hoping it would be fixed by now. I also heard some Allied players complain that there were not enough "targets." Despite these things I still managed to enjoy myself, but it was mostly for the people and less for the paintball. I doubt I will attend next year. I would much rather put my efforts into an up-and-coming scenario game that is better organized.

All know the way; few actually walk it.

Hey whats up michael! even with all that foul play on both sides it was still the best d-day ive been too. I really love the fort slasher dan built, if we are in charlie again next year and each of us took no more than 1 hour of minor work to clear foliage and small trees from around charlie our chances of survival drasticaly increase.

Yeah we took a few hachets to the undergrowth so we had clear fire lanes to each landing craft.

okay I was a little more liberal with the hachet and the takig own the undergrowth .... but what can I say. :-)

All I have to say about charlie company is good job and that your leader was an a-hole, there was a couple times I wanted to literally kill him. This has nothing to do with the charlie company, just the psycho leader. One time he started griping at me and minispdrcr as we just climbed the big hill leading into firebase alpha (i believe, one right behind the wall), we were catching our breath after the mountain climb and he started yelling at us to do something. Asking us to do something is one thing but he didnt really need to yell, there was nothing going on at all and he was acting like the fate of the firebase relied on two of us or something. He also not knowingly grabbed our company commander sulley Jr. and started yelling at him, man he got a chewing from sulley, funny stuff.

People like that, who get too serious, need a reality check once in a while. They need to be reminded that it's a GAME and it's supposed to be FUN.

I agree, but with an event of this size, you still need good organization and a solid command structure to prevail. Overall, we had a great time playing. People need to remember that the Americans attacked with 34,000 troops, while the Germans only had 6000 at Omaha beach. Dewayne is trying to follow some historical tracks. I agree with that. Besides, I like a target rich environment.

We held the wall a long time this year. I was one of the final guys in the trenchs at 11:15. Last year, we lost the wall before 10:30.

I hope people continue to attend. Our group has committed to enhancing the Atlantic Wall experience. I only pray that the number of the 1st ID doesn't dwindle because our bunker building.

We can't lose. You Germans INSIST on taking a 4 hour lunch break every damn game. How can y'all expect to win when you act like that?

I would be okay with the lunch break if the people returned afterwards (and they only took a small break). The key to a German victory lies in holding firebase alpha, firebase bravo, and the wall.

Oh well, we will just have to see what next year brings. Hopefully, I'll have a dual mag mg42 mockup on a bunker next year.

That would be cool, did you see the guy with the 3 gun setup providing some cover fire on the boat coming across? Dont remember what kind of guns they were just remember there being 3 of them, none the less it was neat. I'm going to be in the 101st next year though, something different.
