Here are a few pics showing the size comparison in a STOCK UMF frame, alone, and next to my pneumag I'm making.

So I take it my frame is comming along good then, eh? Nice to finally see some pics of it! (sarcasm)

Looks very good. I can't wait 'til it's in my hands again!

EDIT: You say you got the eye harness to fit too, right? I can't remember.

EDIT #2: Hey Joe, you feel like doing a membrane mod? I need to get a slot milled, but after that, would you be up to it?

          Pictars FTMFW

So I got a bulk of the milling done today cause all my supervisors and the Union machinists were on vacation. I'll still have to do a bit of dremmel work for the final assembly to fit perfect... but overal it's clean IMO. Moral of today's story... when you do something - go all out

The widened/lengthend top to allow for an easy MPA-3 install

The slotted out area behind the trigger to house the micro trigger switch

The battery area for the battery to sit sideways

The board area - notice the dremmeled out rear

Trigger guard slots - I felt like adding some flair

          Picture of the whole thing

A little Halo 2 box I whipped on the CNC for fun.

So pneumagger, for the compacitor, did you just cut it off and wire the leads together on the board? and the noid you used, do you think one of the mini ones from airsoldier would work with the ion boards output?

just remove the capacitor you DO NOT want to connect the open spots on the board. If your using a larger power consuming solenoid (like the newer MAC solenoids) you may need a small capacitor... but with this application having or not having a capacitor doesn't matter.

I am using one of the small 5VDC solenoids from ASP. Running 9V to it shouldn't matter and they don't draw near enough power to warrent a capacitor. Like I said, A capacitor won't hurt... but it won't help. It will just cause charge leak and drain the batteries faster.

Enjoy the board when it gets there!

I was re-reading what niccad wrote:

Realize that the Ion solenoid configuration is designed to hold the output line pressurized until it "fires" ("normally open"), in which it VENTS on activation.. so it is operating backwards from what you would want in a E-pneuMag.
So by using a different noid, you don't have this problem? And with the ion board, you added the extra wires for noid placement and switch placement correct?

Can you link the noid you used?

I don't have the noid yet. I ordered the same noid that big evil used.

Not sure where ~e wrote that, but the ion solenoid is designed to vent on actuation. The SMC noid is designed to open on actuation. Otherwise... the board just sits there with an unpowered solenoid when resting. Swapping the noid will not effect the board. In fact thae difference in solenoid operation is the reason I am swapping out the noid... so I will have one that does what I want when the board says "go".

The solenoid in either valve is simply a coil of wire that makes a magnetic field. The magnetic field tranforms electrical energy into mechanical energy that works a valve. There is no positive or negative with reguards to the solenoid coil - just simply on or off.

The only system I've ever seen inpaintball where the solenoid polarity matters is in the emag, where switching the current direction will flip the magnetic field's polarity. Although this does not effect the board or solenoid performance in the least bit... it changes the Hall sensor's ability to recognize the trigger effectively thus limiting overall rate of fire.

If the ION board doesn't work, it will be because of the pulsed signal output that prohibits the SMC solenoid (that is too small and sensitive) from mechanically balancing the signal.

Man, I may have to try this. My buddy is pretty good with electronics, I'm sure he could solder similar connections to the ones you have pictured.

So, if something similar to yours is accomplished, the only thing left really is final placement and the connection of air fittings?

Sorry to trouble you more, but if you can, can you post pictures when you're done? I'm getting pretty excited to try this out, just placed an order for a t-board minus the noid.

                              Pneumagger,

You are killing all of us. We read your great idea, we dream of buying this noid you speak of, we search the internet for 5vdc SMC solenoid, or ASP 5vdc solenoid... We come up with nothing.

It would halp all of us if you would give us a link, a part number, a website.... Throw the AO a bone man!!!

Thanks for being creative and let us all keep the teens wondering "what kind of gun is that?"
