Are you considering buying a new gun?

Guys im curious. Anyone out there planning on purchasing a brand new gun in the next year? It seems that there are alot of people (Myself included) that are forgoing shelling out the big bucks and waiting until either new models come out to cause the prices on the old ones to drop, or are just buying used?

Case in point: 06 MacDev Cyborg last year new = $800-$900. Today you can still buy them brand new for $650 or used for $500ish. Meanwhile, 07's go for in the $1100 range. The 07 costs almost double the old one with very little differences other than cosmetic. (Certainly not enough to warrant paying an additional $500+ for it anyhow)

Marker companies are releasing new models every calendar year just like the car companies do. Is this smart for business in the long term?

So, are you going to buy a new marker and why?

Buying a new Mini this week or the next whenever it arrives into stock. They will be the first Mini's to arrive into Australia.

Just want a new and different toy to play with, while I'm working on my mag project. I looked at the others....PMR, DM7, Ego7 etc...but felt the Mini brought something new/different to the table.....plus its at a great price and performs just as well as the others.

Plus all my buddies are eager for me to get it, so they can all check it out.

I'm always considering buying a new gun. But I won't buy BINB though, it just isn't worth it.
Unless you have alot of expendable cash and must have the latest new gun I really don't see a reason to buy the current year model.
Technolgy wise there is little difference in the guns in the last few years.
Its a buyer's market right now and after Cup, it'll be even better.
DM4/5s going for 300-350, PM6s going for 350-400, shocker SFTs for 300-350. I mean its ridiculous right now.

Is it smart for companies to release a new model every year? Sure if there is a demand for it, which it seems like there is.

I bought both of my Cyborg's brand new, my 06 and then my 07. Maybe I'm neurotic but if I'm spending THAT much money for a gun, I don't mind spending a little more on it knowing it's BRAND NEW and that I'm the only one to have fondled it (after it's come out of Wilke's balls @ DC).

HAHA yeah I know what you mean. Used can be headaches. But there are lots and lots of good deals to be had if you are careful.

I turned $800 into 5 different guns. All of which were in really good shape.

agreed. you definitely can get a good deal if you look carefully. i'm a "i want it now" type personality so when they 07's came out, I sold my 06 and got an 07. it helps that i was fortunate enough to have gotten a good deal on both of them via a sponsor.

Used can be a headache if your not willing to shop around and just try to pick up cheap deals that seems too good of a deal. I guess thats the downside of buying used.

The last BNIB purchase I made was on an Alias back when they cost $1100.00. What's the resale on them now? $350? lol.

Well I'm considering getting a new gun come next tax season (I claim a 0 on my returns so that when I get my refund it's all fun money). As far as new guns every year...yea I don't know why and I don't think it's the smartest thing. An "old school" player finds a gun he likes and runs it for years (which I plan on doing once I really break into the high end market). Personally I'm looking for a new angel from the g7 platform or a1 platform (depending on price and availibility) or a cyborg 06 (or newer depending on price).

I was drooling over the e-mag but it is so hard to find new, and it's got some massive heft to it, and I find the battery forgrip unconfortable.

I am thinking of selling my Emag and JR borg buying a DM6.

As for new markers every year, well it doesnt appear to me that it can last much longer, I mean there is a lot of paintballers, but I dont see people willing to shell a grand or so out per year on a marker.

Reguarding the new markers every year topic...

Look at smart parts. They basically have stuck to the same markers (impusle & shocker & ion) only updating them every few years and it lets then charge way less per marker. Just smart business.

I'm waiting until after the first of the year to look into buying a used a1. My hope is that wdp will announce the release of an a1 fly or something new then; although I've heard they don't plan on it. The used prices for a1s are already pretty favorable, and thatd drive them down further.

I have seen and shot several a1's to be honest I dont like them one bit. Triple tubes are nice when they are AKA, but Angel is off the mark I think, and the A1 has some quality issues in my book. Oh and then metric fasteners...
