We have now learned that the companies have reached a settlement.

The terms and details of that settlement are undisclosed but do include a gag order.

Last post is early August.
The thread appears to be an argument between Manike ( PBN mod ) , rabid ( most dangerous man in paintball ) , and Furby ( 68caliber.com owner ) .

So c'mon rabid and furby give us some hints on good things that may come from this settlement / agreement !

And PBN can stay on their Smart Parts loving site as far as I'm concerned.
No one in here is fooled by the posts they have deleted because of sponsors.
(no matter how much they deny being owned)

the whole thread turned into a copyright battle and slam against PBN with false accusations.

bascily the jest of the arbitration is BE and ptp had an agreement, be did not hold up their end according to ptp.

that is about all that is, has been and in all likelyhood will be said.

I didnt ask about the super secret decoder ring stuff, I asked what new and exciting stuff is on the horizon, that resulted from this settlement / agreement .

I think you all are missing the significant issue here - deliberately or otherwise: PTP forced BE to settle. Otherwise the case would still be on-going.

Many settle because it's cheaper to do than fight. Insurance companies are notorious for this. So I don't see how that equates to PTP forcing BE to do anything.

Like you said it's all speculation, and that blog is very biased. I am reading between the lines, and whoever wrote the blog is obviously somehow connected with PTP attempting to influence the general public.

That would normally be the case - unless you were familiar with the details leading up to the arbitration.

'Settle' is a word I would not use in this circumstance.

Sorry that I can't be more specific, but my understanding is that BE was led to the table kicking and screaming and made numerous attempts at avoiding the matter entirely before being forced to cooperate.

Given the gag order and my personal loyalty to those involved, I'm kind of stuck in the same position that PTP is: if I could tell you the whole story, backed up with demonstrable facts, you'd be laughing at BE and you'd agree that this is a win for PTP. If it had been me sitting at that table, I wouldn't have agreed to any settlement amount if I had to agree to a gag order as a result. The real benefit to pro-team is - prevailing over a much bigger company AND having a company like BE license their IP from them, which ipso facto lends credibility to those patent holdings.

As it is, I have to sit here and listen to the ramblings and snide comments of those (not you) who have no factual experience with this matter and yet persist in acting as if they do.

Unless of course it's PTP who had no other choice but to settle and cut their losses. The gag order works to their favor, because then it could be spun to appear to lend credence to their IP, when there isn't any.

How can anyone presume that a settlement is PTP prevailing? Without the details, the whole thing can be spun either way. Which is the reason why I don't lend credence to the story.


Oh, and if anyone is interested - I have become aware of the location of the Arc of the Covenant. I would love to tell you, but the tribe of priests guarding the legendary relic have issued a gag-order preventing me.
