Not a fan of long barrels, my kit is 12".
I've tried the Powerlyte, but I just didnt care for it.
Got some Freaks, a WWA that takes Freak inserts, and the Orbium.
After trying many I've settled on those.

I agree, but it wont cost much to get a tip cut down to size and re-annoed i the backs preform well enough.

try a 10 in DW? i love mine i use SS inserts and yet to try a better barrel imo

i have the Lapco Snap shot kit... i like it but it is a little heavier than the other barrel kits

I have tried Hammerheads --- stay away.. if u get a ball break it is terrible to clean

I also tried the Stiffi Switch Kit.. its ok.. prefer the Lapco because the backs are 5" vs 2"

good luck.. no silver bullet when it comes to barrels...

Kinda on a tangent here... but why does it seem like 14 and 16 in barrels are more standard? Is there scientific reasoning behind using a 14inch over a 10inch barrel? Just curious

I put up two links, one of which talks briefly about the ideal barrel length. Mann also put up a link to his study, which is a REALLY god, albeit longer, read. Check them out.

There is really no point to a longer barrel though. Actually, my understanding is that a 10 inch barrel should be better than the 14 inch barrel of the same type, assuming neither were ported. 8-10" is the ideal length IIRC.

I have a MacDev Matchstix kit, works well about $100 for 4 backs 2 fronts. I hate insert kits...the more parts the more things to get messed up.

Haven't had a problem yet, and getting a close (enough) match to your paint will allow for much better efficency, and consistancy gain.

Well, back in the day the emphasis was on "SHORT SHORT SHORT!" While today the emphasis is on comfort comfort comfort.

The longer barrels serve two REAL purposes...

                    1) Easier to sight down the barrel, which is probably more necessary now because all guns now are pretty much vert feed
                    2) You can push down the Sup' Air bunkers with your barrel and play tighter.

I personally use a 5 inch barrel and have tons of fun and enjoy the same accuracy as anyone else. BUT I cannot push down the bunkers, which has cost me.

I'm sure if you leaned on the bunker with your upper body to push it down you'd turn out all right.

I think he meant you can squeez the barrel to be enshoruded by the bunker effectivly when the barrel is long enough to poke out the other end

I got it, I was just being a . It stemmed from the fact that the speedball course here on base used to consist of pallets for bunkers. One individual bumped into his when he ran into it, and well.... lets just say everyone took advantage of his misfortune.

I use three cp one peice barrels.
                            Bore Sizes are 0.685, 0.689 and 0.693.
14 inch length, black in color.
I have never and will never use anything else.
When I can shoot your finger consistently from 50-75 feet, I don't need anything else.
I have used these for 2 yrs now, they last well and they shoot perfectly with all paint.
EDIT: I also bought them all used for less than $50 (added together).

I use the lucky 15" it is an affordable set of 3 bore sizes, and they are 1 piece barrels, so no inserts and no half fast two piece barrels.

BTW SP quality control is crap these days so I would never buy a freak system. The best story i've heard so far is someone bought one and the inserts were off centre in the barrel and customer support said something like "Just line it up the way it will be in line and assemble the barrel to the gun very carefully..."

I use an Evil Pipe Kit, and I've had a J&J Edge Kit. I find that for those of us who play in an area where temperature fluctuates more than 40 degrees in a season that, yes I do use more than one or two backs. Does it help any? I've never conducted any scientific studies.
                                I went like this :shooting:
He went like this :tard: then like this :wow: then like this
