Hey Chris...here's a though: could/should we allow non-paintball items to be included? I might not have the barrel or grip someone is looking for, but maybe someone could use an Xbox game I don't need, or some computer parts...what do ya think?Comment

people could just put up a one liner saying they have "SYSTEM HERE games" or "this type of stuff" and then pm if some one is interested or if they have the things the person wants that are just one liners they can pm to figure out exactly what they needOriginally posted by RattHey Chris...here's a though: could/should we allow non-paintball items to be included? idea
My idea about that would be if possible have the forum guy create a "free trade" section under the classifieds if possible. instead of it being in the misc for sale section. just so it doesnt clutter that section and to keep the free trade and the for sale ideas apart.
And it would be nice to do non paintball items.....but least for 3 to 4 months we stick with just paintball based items. just to make it easier on everyone and easy to fix any problems before taking it on a larger scale.

hmm, no one else one to jump into the conversation with their thoughts?Comment

Well, I am going to spend the day getting all my gear ready to play tomorrow. While I am going through it, I am going to look for stuff to give away. If I find anything, I will list it. I don't have anymore ideas. I say we get it started based on what we have already come up with.Comment

we did all of this last year. It worked great for a month or two, but died. While it is a great thought most people get tired/bored/busy to update list. There were also a few problems with the last one.Originally posted by Chris Nearchoshmm, no one else one to jump into the conversation with their thoughts?
* the whole Canadian/American problem. Someone asked for something, but was denied and the object was given to someone else because the giver didn't want to ship over the border (it cost more). This started a pissing contest.
* there were a few people taking advantage of the whole thing. Sure I have a lot of gear that I don't care to give away. The problem occurs that as soon as I list it I have people that send me a list of the stuff that want it. IMO if I am going to send you enough parts to make a mag I might as well just keep the marker together and sell it.
*The thread gets cluttered quickly.\
*people getting free stuff, and turning around and selling it. (Yes it happened last time. No I wont name names)
IMO it is easier that when I see that someone needs something small I will offer it to them for free, and just ask that they pay 2.00 for shipping/packaging.
Just my .02

Ya it has been done before. Do it again and make it work. Self govern yourselfs. It can work if YOU ALL make it.

ideas
okay, so i was thinking about it all night after mann's comment and here is some ideas i came up with. not saying they SHOULD but rather they could be used if work for the free idea. (along with the others i have mentioned)
- We could make this an "elite" AO user thing. Meaning:
*they have a certian amount of post (should be a nice big number of 300 or 400)
*they have a certian amount of feed back (maybe like 1 and 1/2 good pages worth)
*can only be invited into the thread participation.
* must be a good AO'er
* this would prevent newbies, postwhores, etc from abusing the system. because its pretty much only allowing the guys and gals that have stood the test of time and have shown themselves to be worthy of AO, to particaipate.
-shipping, again if we set the rule that the payer would have to pay shipping if over $3 or $4, it would take away the problem of shipping outside of US
- one can flat out choose to give to a person or not. either because of past negative dealings or just doesnt desire to ship to outside their country.
* state this as a rule upfront and no one can complain about someone not giving to
them.
* it would be the same as a canaidian or european not wanting to ship to the U.S.
* If one desires to have it shipped from another country, the whole they pay the
extra/total shipping comes into play.
-set a rule that if we see you selling off parts that you had gotten as a taker in a certian amount of time (like a month or 2), you can be kicked out of the idea.
*this would stop anybody from turning around and selling the stuff and we then know that they really did not need such help to begin with.
-have it in its own section under the classifieds and we wouldnt need to worry about clutter.
-we set a limit of how many free things one can have at any given of time without giving back (like 3)
* like turn it into a 3 mark system. your only allowed three marks. and the
only way to get rid of the marks is by offering to the pot and having some
one take an item (item for each mark)
*and vise-versa...you get plus's if you are giving out more then your taking
(like a credit)
I know its alot to go by and what not, but it goes to solve a hugh lot of the problems. And if its a thing about none wanting to "police" this idea and keep order in the section.....i will gladly offer my time and ability to do that.
I just think its another way to make the people of AO to strive to become a real part of it. Also it goes to show the rest of the paintball community that mag owners are one of the most extreamly people around. and heck....maybe it will become such a good idea that it will spread throughout the online paintball community.Comment
