    Tac-One on the Speedball Field

Okay, so I've heard plenty about how the Tac-One is great for the "Woodsball" player, (with it's upgrades like the Torque Loader, and highly disputed "Longbow" kit) but how does the Tac-One stack up (speed, air consistency, weight, and size) against electros like the Marq, and Ego? I am currently running around with a 98c, (only upgrade is a cyclone feed system) a PCS US5 (I won it in a big scenario game and would not reccomend it over the A5) and the ICD Lasoya Promaster. (love this gun, but Indian Creek Designs went out of the paintball market, and that makes me a little nervous about gun parts)

I am not trying to say that "Woodsball" is really all that different than "Speedball" but both terms usually evoke a similar mental picture in many people's minds. The only reason I would even dare to poke at the fire of the "Speedball vs Woodsball" conflict is so I can know if one of the best guns for "Woodsball" (in terms of upgrades mixed with high performance) is small and fast enough for "Speedball"

Make a pneumag, it'll keep up with anything else. And it's small as hell.

You're really over dramatizing things. No one is running around with torches ready to draw and quarter people who play the opposite format. Calm down.

Tac-Ones are the same exact thing as any other Mag. They just have picatinny rails on them for mounting scopes, lights, lasers, etc. That is it.

Any mechanical gun will have trouble keeping up in higher level tournaments, but if we're talking rec ball here, it's not a big deal. I take my Sniper II onto walk on rec games at the local speedball field and I'm fine. It's rec ball for crying out loud, your gear doesn't need to be super high performance or "competitive".

Well as far as going to play speed ball with a more or less woodsball gun... I DO IT ALL THE TIME!!!! Dont worry about who says what as long as you enjoy the marker you play with an enjoy the games played... Here is my woodsball meets speed ball gun. and for the record it keeps up with any of the newer electros out there and i prolly have alot less problems in the long run too.... heck i even keep the barrel mounted flashlight on there when i play. Sometimes i even turn it on....LOL

Those guys are NOT a reliable source for information about paintball or the state of the industry. No wonder you've been talking this way lol. On the spec ops forum, you get one point of view and it's rarely very accurate.

                Example:

"Rawr speedball is teh gayz all doz little agg kids wit no respect dats all its aboot and dey all wear teh silly cloths and luis vitton omg its so childish anyone who disagrees wit me is an agglet nubby nubcakes!"

Speedball and woodsball can coexist quite amicably. It's all paintball and this silly distinction between "speedball guns" and "woodsball guns" is a delusion.

The Tac will work great for woods or speed.

Yeah, the guys that are best at woodsball are speedball players with speedball guns.

Not to be simply argumenative, but I am not so sure I agree with that statement.

The skills learned playing speedball help a lot, but there is most certainly a set of skills that can be applied in "woodsball" that work in your favor there.

At any rate, and on topic, the Tac will work just as well as any other mag in any game you wish to play with it.

I can't believe I just heard that. Two different styles of play, for the most part two different types of players. Speedball players lane, shoot ropes, and end there games in mostly one minute. woodsball players wait for there shots, flank and most games take 15 minutes.

Shooting a .68 caliber paintball threw sticks, leaves and wind is a art form. ramping 15 bps in a enclosed area with inflatable bunkers... Do you see where I'm getting at????

Back to the point, it doesn't matter what you use in paintball. Just play it enjoy our sport and keep it alive

A Tac on Speedball will be just as at home there as anything else. Certain kit may not lend itself well to the type of play that speedball encourages, but the gun itself is no more or less robust than any other gun. The Tac-One is just a body, it's still a Mag at heart.

Also I would agree and disagree.

While the gear may be different, the disciplines are inherently the same.
Speedball will focus on the firefight, since that's exciting to watch (generally speaking) and participate in. Woodsball attempts to incorporate the aspects of stealth and "large scale" maneuvers.

However, when the chips are down, a firefight in speedball is inherently the same as a firefight in woodsball. There are still firing lanes, suppressive fire (ropes), and cutting off angles (flanking) in woodsball. Cover changes and how you use it, but there's nothing mystical about the woodsballer or the speedballer. They're just out there to have a good time and shoot some paint.

It certainly doesn't hurt to have a speedball guy at your side, pumpin' out enough paintballs for three people in a woodsball game. I definately seen some people get trashed by a speedy little flank (or bunkering) that some guy in a bright red jersey. But don't even try and get him to listen to you!
