AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Ninja Paintball - customer service that goes beyond the call of duty
The black is a different shade that the other part of the reg that the bonnett connects to so I hope this means that I did really get a brass bonnett.
The brass version tends to have an orange hue to it, and it slightly heavier. The aluminum version tends to be slightly green or blue, though I've seen some with red or yellow hues to them. My "green" and "yellow" aluminum ones are from '09 and '08 respectively. The "orange" brass is just the standard finish for brass bonnets, mine is from late '09. I haven't seen a "black" black one, other than the one that Hook posted up.
Here's a picture of the brass bonnet:

I have seen somewhere online that Ninja is offering the "Ultralight" version of their tanks. As near I can tell, the "ultralight" version is the aluminum bonnett. Oh, and the brass version is $5 cheaper.
On their site they don't make reference to "ultralight" versions, they just state that for $5ish more you can order a tank with a smaller gauge and a "ninja black" aluminum bonnet... Sounds like some site/seller is doing a bit of creative re-wording to bring his or her sales up. The weight reduction is so insignificant that it would almost be misleading to call it "ultralight".

Actionvillage is where the creativity is happening...
Met the Ninja guys at their booth at dday. I had a tank that was out of hydro, but there wouldn't have been anyway to get it hydroed before the game, obviously. He lowered the price on a new tank by a bunch without me asking, shimmed it up for 1k so my RT could rip with it, and gave me a stack of orings when my sister cut one by trying to force on a remote with bad threads.

I couldn't ask for a friendlier experience.
the funny thing is - that's exactly the experience that EVERYONE has with Ray and Ninja. It's not once in a while to look good - that's just how they treat people.

Very true. They do their best to keep their customers happy and satisfied, and are very effective at doing so.
A question for the Ninja guys... do you sell just the adjustment shims? I have two regs that I would like to fine tune to get their pressures as close as possible, but I am out of the shims that came with the rebuild kit. I don't really need another kit, so I wanted to buy just the shims.

Just call - I'm guessing they'll just send you a set.
Whee little update - my 68/4500 had a cosmetic crack on the glossy black coating of the tank, so Ray graciously sent me a replacement tank last week. Had a big game this weekend and played a whopping 30 minutes with the new tank, until I noticed that it was leaking from the bonnet. D'OH!
Tried to unscrew the bonnet but it looks like it's cross-threaded on! Why do I have such bad luck with my tanks?
Anyway, it doesn't look good for me, 3rd issue with Ninja in unde a few months. I've already contacted Ray, but he has to run this to his boss to see if they will replace it or repare it.
And to think I've been using Crossfire for years without any issues... Hopefully this streak of bad luck will end soon.
In a matter of a few weeks, my all-black bonnet on my 13/3000 started to turn green like the one pictured by Frizzle Fry! It's not fully there yet, but I figure it'll have the same green hue to it by the end of the summer.
My 68/4500 is still black though. Well, the new one they sent me anyway.
