As Tom mentioned, the operating pressure is somewhere about 375psi, and the heavier spring helps to slow the bolt down so the gun is gentler on brittle paint!!

ROF that you're talking about is purely academic anyway!!! It'll probably slow down the ROF from 22bps to 17bps!!! I doubt anyone can shoot that fast anyway!! Besides, according to the the testing the Racegun Guys and Tom were talking about, The limit on verticle feed is 13bps anyway!!!E-Mag's on a diet
Stay tuned for Pics!!!

Yeah, it would slow down the ROF. Now that i think back Tom did a poll on whether we would give up speed for less chopping.

Wait a minute, the opertaing pressure on these new valves are only 375? Didnt the Smart Mag run at 325 or so? I thought Mag valves already operated at this pressure. Also, were there changes in the orifices sizes in the new conversion? Or just enlargened air chamber to allow more air? Would air efficiency be dropped?
Let me know all.

If I can remember correctly, Tom did an experiment with bolt speed. The production Mags have a bolt speed of like 22fps(feet per second) and he was comparing those with Angels and Cockers. I forgot what speed the Angel(I think 8fps?) was at but it was somewhere between the Cocker and Mag. The Cocker having a bolt speed of around 4fps?
I think the modifications done on Manny's mag dropped it to around 4-6fps? So as you can see, the lower bolt speeds helped with the chopping problems.
If you're concerned with the ROF, you really shouldn't be. Look how fast you can tweak out some of the Cockers out there.
Tom had a way of explaining things while you were there that made it somewhat easy to follow. However, now that it's been a week or so, I've sort of forgotten the finer details...LOL!
But rest assured, all the R&D he's doing is all for the good.

tom d0 we have a time line to expect this stuff?
I am not very happy with my emag at the moment. I had finally convinced the people at my field that emags aren't blenders and all the damn gun would do yesterday was chop.......
I know it's probably a fault in one peice of my equipment but it is still aggravating. Works perfect one weekend other weekend is a salad shooter.

I am in the same boat as Gecko, my gun will work great most of the time, then yesterday at my practice it was really cold,I went to chrono, and the first 4 balls broke in the barrel, so I put my emag away and brought out my free flow,
How long until these will be avaliable with the lower pressure, stuff, so that they handle brittle paint better. will the upgrade people be able to get the new valves in the upgrade? and what ever else is in the works that the public does not know about yet?Team Exotic Elements

If you really think about it, how does bolt speed really affect ball breakage? I mean, the bolt doesnt really "smack" the ball. When the ball drops into the breach, there is only a tiny gap between the bolt and the ball. When the sear is released, there is hardly anytime for the impact to be that harsh. I havent chopped for quite some time.
The only time I chop is when I tilt the gun too much sideways. The balls dont feed correctly. I lost my original Powerfeed plug weeks ago and have been using a spare Kingman Spyder PF plug. I noticed the problem started with that. However, I called AGD, they were nice enough to send me 2 of the new parabolic plugs. I have never tried these, but am eager to see if they will help me.

Yes I definietely agree!
Chopping/Paint breakage has to me the biggest problem in paintball, second only to the actual marker breaking down. The most high quality barrel, most consistent reg, air supply, paint match... etc... all goes down the tube when you break.
Which is why I have turned my BPS on my frame down to 10 to ensure no breaking. I come close to NEVER breaking when I have my gun upright. I only break on the aorfields where I tend to tilt my gun and push the bunkers with my barrel.

Bolt speed effects the second ball in the stack. It isn't necessarily the ball in the breach, it is when the bolt hits the bottom of the next ball...putting a slight stress fracture in it. So than when that ball drops into the breach and is fired, you may get a barrel break. At least that is the way I understand it to be.

Kilauea,
I see what you mean, why doesnt AGD make, in a way, a "softer" bolt. So a rubber material hits the bolt. Make the bolt slimmer and add and oring. This way, the bolt never contacts the actual metal bolt except for the rubber oring around it.
Thoughts?

also,
kilauea,
did you have any problems with your oring on the bolt? Any better consistencies? Better effieciency? Did you have to turn down the fps after installation? Does the rubber wear down from the cycling? My biggest fear is the oring will shread from constant friction of entering the breach then will jam the gun.
LMK.
