I'm a speedball man my self, I just love it to death. Woods is OK, IMO. Of course, this is purely a preference thing.

I found this post a little disgusting though:
I prefer woods because I can wear my guilliet (sp) suit and run around sneaking up on people. It takes more strategy to win in woods than speed. Yeah I know speed takes strategy too but most kids with the *bling *bling on their guns dont last too long b/c they stick out like sore thumbs, but then again, most with the bling have electro guns...but that's another topic, personally I'd take a RT mag over any electro any day. Why? Because my gun wont be in the shop or in the mail 1/2 the time since it wont break down as often. Electro's are compensaters for skill, or as my girlfriend says, extensions of the shooters penis.
I wouldn't even consider saying woods takes more strategy than speedball. They both take a ton depending on how serious you play. And I know some teams who plan extremely carefully, and use teamwork to it's full extent to win speedball games. Your comment about electro guns is pure ignorance (I can't really elaborate on that one).

I beg to differ. There is such a large gap now with paintball guns that it's getting to the point now that if you want to keep up, you have to spend at least $1,000! I remember when everyone had the same type of gun. Then and only then could one see if they had more skills than the other. Now, with trigger pulls getting to 1mm, that's crazy, the game now is who has the most money. IF you ever notice, people dont look at the person at the fields anymore, they look at the gun you are carrying around. Im sorry if my comments offended you, but the truth is it's getting crazy with all the features paintball guns have now. What ever happened to everyone using similar guns and really seeing who is better? This used to be a "classless" sport, now you are already judged before you even play by what you are carrying.

        Woodsball!

I started playing a LONG time ago, when there were only nelspots and splatmasters. The game was much different back then. I played at Skirmish with HUGE fields and 40 minute games. It's great to outsmart the other team, sneak around them without their knowledge, then take them out. It's a great feeling of accomplishment coming out of rhododendrun bushes and finding 4 members of the other team 15 feet away with their backs to you (by that time Line SI Bushmasters and Phantoms were in, so yes I got them all). Perhaps I was spoiled by the great Skirmish fields, but I always loved playing woodsball there. Other fields I have been to seem so small- usually you can see the other team when the game starts- there's no trickery there.

I do enjoy occasional speedball games, but I don't think there is as much strategy involved, just see who can throw more paint (speedball costs more ).
My first paintball gun was a splatmaster

i'm not so sure i agree with your view. it's not necessary to have an electro gun with a 1mm pull. at the last scenario game, my team managed to win most engagements not by superior guns but by superior tactics. i've seen guys on the speedball fields with electros get popped by kids with tippmann 98s. why? because they made really dumb mistakes. the biggest mistake they made was that they were trading the ablility to hit their targets and eliminate them for the ability to lay out massive amounts of paint. there's a pair of guys there who play with tippmann 98s with 45rd hoppers and 4oz CO2 tanks. they held their own against a z-gripped minimag and a defiant, giving as bad as they took. they played about 9 games against those other guys over the course of the night, and won 4. they didn't need to spend $1000 on their guns to do it, either

Well, believe it or not, there are lots of people with skills who play with electros. On top of that, I've seen many Mag, Cocker, and even Spyder users eliminate electro players. I would beg to differ that the game is in favor with those with more money. They may get more attention, but I can assure you that the better player with atleast half decent equipment is usually going to win. I personally love it that paintball technologies are branching out so much, it's good for the industry and gives more choices for the players. Having a high performance gun helps you play better, it's not made to be a crutch for those who suck. Granted there are usually some people at the feild who can't play at all with high end electros, but grouping everyone into that category is rather offensive to serious tournamnet players (or lesser tourny players even).

I also find it kind of funny that you bash electros for their short trigger pulls, yet said you'd take an RT Pro any day. What is the RT Pro famous for again? Oh yeah, it's capability to reach insane rates of fire on semi auto.

If these issues really bother you that much, join a stock class/pump league or tournament. You could also find a group of people who share the same opinions as you. However, degrading statements aimed at the general eletro using paintball population is both offensive and uncalled for.

I KNOW people w/ lower end guns can knock out people w/ electros, hell, even i've done it! The point im trying to make is you get 2 equal players against one another. One has a lets say Spyder and the other has a Angel. Who will win? Of course the person w/ the Angel b/c they can shoot faster. The deciding factor in this situation is the GUN not the player. I have lots of respect for players in tournaments who run on Spyders or Timmy's. However, all you see in the magazines are the people using the Intimidators', Angels, Matrix, and so on...

***If money was not a factor, then why do most tournament players use the more expensive guns? If money really didnt matter, then how come everyone isnt using Rebels? I cant remember the last time I saw a tourny player on the cover of Paintball 2 Xtremes w/ a sub $200 gun.

                    I have to differ there.

If you took, for example, well, lets use Hoover because it'll get funny.

Ok, so we clone Hoover (hehe, see why its funny? Two of them! Ok, well, maybe thats scary...)

You hand HooverA a C&C Emag with a Freak, Flatline, warp, and Halo, and HooverB a Spyder Compact with a sotck barrel, VL200 and a 20oz CO2.

Same skill level, VERY different gun setups.

I will bet you that HooverA wins at least 3 out of 4 matches.

                    HooverA, aka "Good Hoover"

                    HooverB, aka "Evil Hoover"

Busted! Well, it is not really "free time", but time I am making for myself. I have work to do (too darn much in fact), but am pretty burned out at the moment.... needed a break. And we have a big get-together tonight so I will be cutting out early to go shopping... LOL

I'm actually more fond of hybrid fields. Bigger than you're run of the mill speedball, but still plenty of bunkers n' trees n' stuff.

I put both, I like woodsball because it is cheaper and I truely enjoy speedball more, but I'm 14 and near-broke so I play woods mostly.
