I'm really considering going to this thing! I think it would be great fun...but if I do go I'll probably pull together a team of some of my pb playing girlfriends and try to make it...either that I would go as a spectator, but that would not be as much fun...so...hopefully, money and team willing...I can go!

jeffermiller you get the headnod from me... before we start a new thread lets get the specifics hammered out

      Novice yes or no??

Orginizer/captain (on feild captain/co-captains may be different if the team decides later but just for now to get things movin)
Jeffermiller?? he did start this for us all, and has been keeping the ball rolling so far Jonesie...if you "feel green about it" i would perfer someone most confident...no offense and please dont take that comment as an insult, i just would perfer the most assertive/aggressive orginizer we could have at this point.

i belive we should plan 6 members per team, that way if there is a problem we have an alternate, if there is no problem we can just have the 6th player sub in (so for every 6 games everyone would play 5) i think this would be good for insurance yes or no??

i belive we should plan right now for one team of the most intersted plaers and if interst shows we can hammer out a second team later (but one team is enough of a headach for this moment)
Tom was the last of a now extinct breed, a breed of players who build a community, a breed of owners who gave to the sport never taking more than what they deserved. I hope to see you at the feild again some day....

          Novice sounds good to me.

I also vote Jeffermiller as El Capitan. This is his brainchild.

We need at least 6 guys. I would feel really uncomfortable with less than that.

Do we want to see about investing in some cheap jerseys for this? I think a uniform look is pretty important.

FINE...WHAT-EVER...BE THAT WAY!!! That's exactly why I said I'd do it if no one else wanted to. No biggie who does it, as long as it gets done...

I like this idea fine, but I forsee a problem. Let's say we are playing one of the better teams in a 'must-win' situation. The rotation has come around to include a guy who hasn't performed that well (me?) and exclude the best player. What then? Also, should we make it to the finals I'm afraid someone would be upset if they don't get to play.

I'm thinking a set team with an alternate who know he/she won't play if everyone shows...

I totally agree. This sounds like the best idea...

            I'll play novice too.

Personally if I was the weak link on the team and knew we needed the strong guys to win I'd give up my turn to let the strong guys play. It just shows a bit of maturity. I would hate to tell a guy to drive/fly all the way down but don't count 100% on playing.

If we need to bump a guys turn for whatever reason they'll just have to get over it. There'll be enough bad guys for everyone.

Very true. I too would give up my turn if it meant a chance to win...

In the past, I've never really encountered the problem. Which is rather surprising seeing that this is the way we normally play. It allows us to put our best presence on the field. I'd give up my normal rotational spot if it serves the best interest of the team. I have several times.

Having organized these things before and even tried to get a Skyball team last year I'll tell you it's hard. But the best tool I found for doing this is the "Yahoo Gorups". It keeps everything nice and clean and no one like myself from chiming in on the important discussions. You can also talking about the deep secrets of the team with out worrying about spys:) Just a suggestion for you guys.

If you want I will set up the group for you.

I will add who ever is going to be your captain / organizer as a moderator and turn the group over to him/her. I will probably still stick around the group and stay a moderator, so that this group might be able to be used later for other events.

Much more "user friendly" than I would have provided. I signed in as well.

                              jeffremiller,

You are now an owner of the group. I take it you have never used the Yahoo groups. If you can not figur something out let me know. A little advice, it's not a bad idea to create a small database with everyone what is interested and their information (sorta like what you have on this page). You can also upload pictures, so you guys know what each other might look like:). I added a few important links to the "Links" page. One of which is to a place that makes custom jersey's and they turn out really nice, just a place you might want to think about. Other than that, have fun and I might chime in here and there if you guys don't mind.

How many interested at this point?

How much particpant fee per player?

I'd like to join if there is a spot. I'm not crazy about the designated "sub" position - would perfer we share the wealth (of playing) if making the trip.

Would also second the jersey idea. It would be a nice touch to have "team colors" and would represent AO well :)

If we do well the advertising will help AGD/AO so maybe there might be some help offsetting the expenses.

Maybe AGD will be teching at the event and we could bunk up with the reps and work the booth when not playing...
