get the black dragon and a revy...

the set up *other then the frame* is almost 100% the same as the spyder.. so they are easy to clean and fix...

I have a Black Dragon.. the one with the Exp Chamber, and the Reg, and it works great! I have an old EGG feeding it and I only chop if I fan the trigger... It's not my emag... so it's hard...

but for the $$$$ and what the gun can do.. you can't beat it!
the best, hands down $100 marker you can get...

dude, get a black dragon they aer really sweet entry level gun. They shot nice, and the trigger is really sweet. it's great to start, and when he wants to start upgrading he can add a reg/X chamber, aftermarket barrel etc. the trigger is teh best entry i've ever seen, at my shop me and my frined alwasy screw around with one adn walk it and everything. defintly go for the dragon.
unless of course i'm totally wrong than forget everything i said

ok well if your brother takes good care of his stuff or you would take care of it i would look at a rainmaker. That will be enough of a gun to last him a while and when he wants more you can just gut the reg and add a new aftermarket one, Change the hoses to a high flow set, Add a few mods that help the looks out, a new board that gives you inreal rof and a new trigger/switch to help the rof in semi mode.

But if he is like i was at that age and is rough on everything i would go with a tippmann and drop a little more intro a rt when he wants to shoot faster.

              my 2 cents.
Why doesnt anything work for me.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I know the tippys are bullet-proof, but I'd rather get him something that can keep up more with my dad and I's retro mags. I was considering the black dragun, but had heard a few negative things about. However, I value your opinions and if you say they're good I'll trust you. They're certainly cheap for the ROF I've seen people get out of them. So, my brother will probably end up with a black dragun. Once again, thanks.

                  depends..

if it is a newbie that has never played paintball, then go rental first....

if it is a newbie that has played paintball and likes the game and if money is NOT an issue but a MAG, air tank, and LEVEL 10.

if money is an issue, buy a low $ marker with c02.

Mag with a Tippy a close second. Can't beat either of them. They won't let you down, just gas up and go!

I say a Spyder TL Plus. Looks a bit better than a Tippy in my opinion and they keep up just fine. Lots of upgrades cheap and work well on CO2. Or any of them Spyder clones is fine too. And a 12V revy too... he can keep up with you all just fine.

Depends on your budget. A basic mag can keep right on growing with you as you have time and money. If you don't have the money get a model 98. They are virtually indestructable and the second most relaible gun made (second to the mag). I will never ever buy another spyder or spyder clone. I got nothing but trouble and shabby parts that couldn't hold up to the normal rigors of paintball play.

i was always very pleased with my f4 illustrator. tippmanns do hold up very nicely, but during the first 2 years i had my f4 and didn't know anything about paintball, i don't think i oiled it even once. cleaned it out recently and shot about half a case of year old paint i found under a chair flawlessly.
