spiders and spider clones are good...but not as the first marker you have ever owned. i cant tell you how many times ive seen a guy with a brand new spider have to clip the spring to get it under 290fps. just telling them they have to take it apart and cut the spring just to play the first time sends a look of panic thru them. ive also loaned my backup tippman to a dozen guys with broken spiders over the years. ive never seen a broken down tippman...with the exception of sniper wannabees with that horrible flatline barrel.
were talking about the first marker for a 9 year old kid. in my opinon a spider is too complex...and any electro is way out of bounds. let the kid learn on a durable beginner marker that will work all the time every time no ifs ands or buts. my 98 hasnt even been cleaned in 2 years...and still no problems.
ive always had a tippman around since the days of the smg 60. i will always have a tippman in my bag for those techno trouble days...or when playing in with newbies that are scared by anything with batteries.
just cuz im a sarcastic @$$...somebody mentioned above that everybody always has spyder parts lying around...cuz they break! how many of you have ever seen a broken tippman? i have never even seen a tippman part not inside a marker...cuz they all still work. if they still made 60 calliber balls i would go outside unhook the dog chain pull the smg 60 out of the ground where its been for 10 years acting as a stake kick the bolt open pour some oil on it and play with it sunday. you cant beat a tipp-lashnikov for durability and service life. not to mention ease of use.
