ANS bolt (foamie) was designed to help with chopping issues.

All these as well as others have now been fixed by AGD but who knows if or when it would have happended without the outside push.

The only problem with this arguement was that most of these products came out AFTER the problem was fixed by AGD. The only one I can think of was the PTP PT spacers. When those came out, AGD was still using PT springs. The ANS bolt was not to prevent choping, but to prevent ball explosions. Back in the early-mid 90's there was a rise in the use of Venturi style bolts. Every gun had an aftermarket bolt that instead of using one large hole (the mag used three) the venturi bolt used 6, 8 or 10 holes. Many people thought that distributing the air evenly around the ball would prevent the ball from blowing up down the barrel and that it would also make it fly straighter. Now the hot fad is to have a huge open face bolt. 10 years ago, if someone would have come up to you with an open face bolt and told you it was the best bolt on the market, more than likely you would have laughed at them. This was the selling point for the ANS bolt.

The problem with the ANS bolt was that it works fine until it wears out. The metal that it is made out of is crap. Back around 95 or 96 I bought an ANS bolt because I was sick of losing the foamies on the AGD bolt. I used it for about 9 months before the edge that the sear catches was rounded off and causing all kinds of problems. I put the stock bolt back on and all was good.

Take this from a person who has tried them ALL. I have followed every Ravi article on Mag tuning and have spent much money on all the little aftermarket parts for mags. Most are now in the garbage, or sitting in a box.

I'm not sure if they all came before or after, but it was close. Most people were aware of the Mags problems.

Also, there were hundreds of valves already out there,

and that's what the foamie on the ANS bolt was there for.(before they realized what actually caused Mags to chop)

Don't you think if that was the reason, the big honkn' foamie in the AGD bolt would have done a better job???

They didn't realize what caused a mag to chop until 2002...

The AGD foamie bolt was out before the ANS bolt. Around the same time the ANS came out AGD came out with the foamie-less bolt because people complained that hey kept losing the foamie. At no point did the ANS bolt ever claim to prevent chopping, it claimed to give you better accuracy, just like every other venturi style bolt (foamie or no foamie).

Sure, they obviously put the foam on there for accuracy.

muzik... i'm sorry you lost your foamies.

you know, the thing is i've been looking for a way to soften the trigger on the classic valves. I have two. The only thing I can think of is the Z valve, which has its own host of problems...

Could you give me more details as to what your problem with the bolt was? My used mag has an ANS venturi in it and i couldnt figure out, for the life of me, what was wrong with it. The bolt seems to get stuck forward, and leak.
-it doesnt happen when i rip it
-it seems to only happen when im low in air psi

You might have fixed my problem, what are the chances of that happening though.

Pretty much like you are saying...I would get bolt stick...and for no reason. Take a look at the bolt where it catches on the sear and see if it is slightly rounded. It doesn't have to be all that much, just enough to cause it to slip off the sear when it shouldn't. To be honest, you best bet is to try a stock bolt, if that fixes your problem, then it was the ANS bolt. If you don't have the stock bolt, see if someone at the field can let you use one for a game and see if it fixes the problem.

The Chopping problem was not the bolt. It was the powerfeed plug. Now it is all good. :o
