DO NOT ship paintball markers via OS postal Service PLEAESE MAKE THIS A STICKY

    PLEASE make this a sticky

we run destructive customs llc, today I got a note in the

mail to go to the post office, I figured ok we need to

sign for a box, no problem I hop in the truck and head

down .... I get there and ask for my package and the guy

goes off to look for it .... 10 mins go by no package 15

no package 20 mins and a guy comes up to me and introduces

himself as the post master..... he asks me if I know that

it is illeagle to send firearms via the usps, I said yes I

do and that we are not transporting firearms because under

mass law a paintball marker is not a firearm . he tells me

that it looks like a gun to him and he will not give me

the package untill I can produce a federal firearms

manufacturing and repair liscence. so I asked him if I can

get the customers name off the box so I can let him know

that there will be a hold up, he will not let me see the

    box

to make an obscenely long story a little shorter we are

now on the suspected terrorist list for shipping weapons

through the mail and we were told by the federal postal

inspector that a paintball marker is concidered a firearm

by the postal service and if they catch us

doing it again they will take actions against us that will

most likly lead to jail time.

now the problem is that we have roughly 30 customer

markers on their way via usps and ups (ups still has no

    problem with shipping paintball markers)

I've always hated USPS. They've always managed to screw important things up for me.

FedEx and UPS all the way!

        I've mentioned this elsewhere, but...

This is too large an issue for one postmaster or one Inspector to decide. Ask to talk to the local Manager, Post Office Operations (Postmaster's boss) and the Inspector's supervisor. Take this issue as far as you need to. Paintball markers are shipped all over the country via USPS everyday. If they stop you, they need to stop everyone. Can they really call paintball guns terrorist items when any 10 year old can walk into a store and buy one?

Oh, and the postal regulations say that the ATF makes the call as to the legality of any particular firearms-related item, not the postmaster. Check for my citation of the correct section on PBN. The ATF decides what is considered a firearm and what is not. By a strict interpretation of the rules, stuff like baseball pitching machines could be considered a firearm.

I have shipped USPS many times, never had a problem with them at all. Also with UPS, same thing, just cheaper.

See, the fact that Easthampton, MA is the only place restricting it means that there is an inconsistency in the interpretation of the policy, and that is why it needs to be taken to a higher level.

I'd never ship UPS unless I really had to. My cousin worked there and he said they could care less about how the boxes are treated. I'd ship airborne above all but if not fedex then usps.

Wow! Thats BS. I've never EVER had a problem with the post office here in Boston. Go as high as you must to get this rectified. Someone from USPS central needs to have a talk with your postmaster. BTW, why did they open it anyhow?
