Again...Veganism is not a Anti Animal use issue. Its a Dietarary regime. It doesn't nessicarily go hand in hand with anti animal use beliefs. Some Vegans are Animal Rightists but many are not. They just feel that eating meat is bad for your health. Not all of them think that killing animals for food and material is bad. It is not synonimous those two, Veganism and Anti Animial Use. Not at all. Two seperate things.Comment

Hold the phone there Cphillip. There is a difference between vegitarianism and veganism. Some Vegans are Animal Rightists but many are not
A vegetarian might be just because of there health beliefs they might also not like the taste of meat and decide it's the lifestyle for them.
Vegans are a whole different ballgame and tend to avoid any food that exploits any animal. For many even honey is off limits because they feel the bees are exploited.

Vegetarians do not eat meat, fish, or poultry. Vegans, in addition to being vegetarian, do not use other animal products and by-products such as eggs, dairy products, honey, leather, fur, silk, wool, cosmetics, and soaps derived from animal products.Comment

I can nearly guarantee 85% of self proclaimed vegans are malnurished do to the lack of amino acids that come from meat and very few exotic vegees. The problem that poeple have that most omniverians are over nurished. Take from me I need to lose 30lbs of nutrition.

I think some of you guys are being a bit harsh in your attempts to dispell the legitimacy of veganism. If somebody takes a personal stand to not contribute to the unnecessary suffering of animals, that's fine with me. To each his own. Provided they don't ruin it for the rest of us

Ah.... but THERE IS NOT such a distinction outside of what they are attempting to create! You have fallen for thier attempt to create a name for themselves!!! They even hijack it and use it in web sites. They know that they can enlist Vegitarians easier to animal rights causes than average joes. I know they are attempting to do this. However you are right that the Animal Rightists ones have taken over the word "Vegan" and want to establish it as thier domain and specific to them and thier wider cause. They are both Animal Rightists and Vegitarians but no one gave them the right to distinguish by using that term! And who says we gonna let em? Its a preversion of a shortened nick name. Vegan has always been a shortened nickname for vegitarian. Untill recently! I do know there is movement underway to hijack it into a whole lifestyle seperate from just dietary. They are indeed trying to usurp it for thier exclusive use. I see a lot of that lately. Doesn't make it so. I have not given up ignoring their thrust yet, I mean why should we? These people have no more right to redefine the english language and establish slang than we do! I want to establish thier nick name as "Nutz". So why should I just give in and agree with you and let them have it? But eventually I might have to give in and agree with you. Assuming they end up winning. Seems so far they are going unchallenged on it.... I here to challenge that!!!!!Originally posted by Miltonyz
