Ponderable : BYOP and paintball players

    Why is it...

Went to a BYOP field today. Met up with Suicidal Snyper (He's a nut, but he's an AO nut...) And I noticed somethig today.

WHY is it that when the metaphorical world is the player's oyster, THEY BUY THE CHEAPEST AND WORST PAINT THEY CAN GET!?!?!?!?!?

Ok, I can understand saving money. But you can get some decent paint for CHEAP if you go to a real paintball store, or at least do some homework! I go to Galyans to look at what they got. $35 for a bucket-o-balls in 1500 count. Locak Sport store has 1000 balls at $25. I can spend $40 to get RP from a popular online resource, or $30 if I go to a store in town for "Seconds" paint. Or I can spend $50 more for a high quality paint that I know will perform really well.

I guess I don't understand the way it works. People buy "cheap" paint, and get what they pay for, then complain that it's not breaking on anything or anyone, except in their barrels. I spend a little more for the "Good stuff" and have a great day with no problems. Why wouldn't someone spend a little bit more for quality to help them have a great day playing if they have the choice?

And, before you ask, I'm in a mood to write tonight. so I'm having fun typing some stuff here.

I'm with you on that, I generally shoot Kickn Triple X nasty for a reason, it works well.

The worst part of it is, you'll seee people with marker set ups well beyond $500 or $1,000 shooting the cheapest paint they can. I have invested a lot of money and time into this hobby, I can't imagine letting poor paint make it less enjoyable. Certainly we're not discussing the $10 a case difference as being why people do this...

I get 40 dollar cases of severe hurricane, so I always shoot that. It always works very nice in my E-Mag or cocker, it's never to oily or dusty either. If you are looking for some really nice paint the won't cost you guys an arm and a leg, look at Severe paint.

Where I play, they have really good prices on paint. You can get a brown box of PMI for 25 bucks. The only reason that the paint is so cheap is because it is the stuff that PMI messed up colors, or it has mix-matched shells or something. It's pretty nice, assuming you have the right size barrel, if not...well...you know how it works.

          Once again,

If more of them played pump, they'd get the good stuff. When your success becomes tied to that one particular ball, you'll pay the extra $10 for paint that will break.

I personally, scenario/tourney restrictions aside, will not shoot anything less than Marbalizers. It is not worth the very minimal savings to shoot things that are nothing more than painted rocks.

best place to buy paint is your local field. If they have any idea what theyre doing, itll be no more than 2 weeks old. draxxus comp. dege is good cheap paint, i can buy it for 30 a case. And other than that....blaze.

I've tried the cheap paint and I'll never do it again. Those things curved or bounced off people and its not worth my agravation. I only get RPS Premiums because they are mid priced and perform to my liking. When I size it up with my pipe kit, it does wonders...

I won't shoot anything other than evil if I have the choice.I see absolutely no reason why someone would spend a small fortune on a setup and run cheap paint through it. It's like putting economy gas in a ferrari.

i pay between 25-35 for a case. i use the stuff at least once to know how well it breaks if it even does. i use the pmi boxes that branchvillian was talking about and draxxus white box. i know that they wont be breaking my guns because my guns are setup so sweetly that im not going to break inside the gun.

I go to dicks and pick up that $35 can with isnt that bad all in all. Also like big ball even though I dont think many people do for $37 on sale at my local store. I dont know how low the paintball scale goes but I dont think I buy cheap crap paint but cheap moderate paint. Both shoot very well through my .688 and .689 barrels on my impulse and cocker. I know that there is bad bad paint that looks like footballs though. Cma eout of some crazy mixed box my buddy had.

I compleatly agree that it is stupid, I still have people who go out and buy "blue streak" when for the same price they could get Zap Tork, or for $5 more they can get Chronic or Evil. Then all day they complain about having marker problems because they keep breaking paint(and surely its the marker not the paint) It really ticks me off.

I've used Zap Rec Series from academy, 2000 count for 29.99. I'm sure they're seconds. Some are dimpled. I've only had a handfull of barrel breaks. They fly pretty straight and break when I need them to.

I had horrible luck with Premiums in the past, I broke so much paint that weekend.. ugh.

by the way, the Zap rec series I was playing with shot just as well as the DraXXuS heat we used at texball.. atleast I think so.

That wasn't bad stuff for 25 bucks, right? I would shoot it again, the only reason I was breaking was because it was large bore, and I only had a small bore barrel on my old shocker.

Lowest I'll go is ZAP Primer. Nothing below that. I tend to shoot higher grade paint usually Chronic or Ulitmate Chronic. Why? So people can't wipe.
