I think one reason people buy cheap paint is they can get more then one case in a situation like that. AT least I know I do. I most other situations, irs either Big Ball, Blaze, or Premium. I like to buy the premium from a local store, Your Supply Depot, cause its like 45 bux and it supports small business. I am going to try and see if they owner will be willing to give me a price break if I buy more.

I buy cheap paint because...I'm cheap!
I've recently been buying Zap Spank, and have had no problems with it. It doesn't break in my LvL 10 Automag (nothing has yet), nor in my Dad's 98c Flatline. It shoots fairly straight and is hard to wipe. I've also used RPS Premium, ZAP Chronic, Draxxus, and Evil, and while they may be a little better, their not $10 to $20 a case better, especially for rec play. If I was playing in tournaments, I'm sure I would have a different outlook.Comment

Waraped sports has Draxxus Comp. edge for like 35$.. I pick up a few cases and use every ball. I just like to shoot a lot during rec gaems, plus I give paint to friends (try that with evil) and I play a lot of games. If I buy evil for 70$ a case that means I play half as long for the same price. Im usually out there to have a good time and dont want to worry about counting my shots. I bough a stiffi barrel sized perfectly for shooting comp. edge, and it shoots darts, my Level 10 dosent break the paint, and the bright orange fill is pretty good, thin but bright.
However If I was playing for $$ then I'd use better paint.Comment

My field, ECX, is BYOP but they also sell paint there as well. However, the pricing isn't the best. They have draxxus white box for $40, midnight for $50, 32* competition and Blaze for $60, and Marbalizers for $70. I usually end up bring paint that I bought online to the field. Recently, I bought two cases of Yellow All-Stars from PBgear at $47 a case. Cost less than the 32* crap they sell at the field and shoots a whole lot better. Definitely makes a day's play more enjoyable when I can shoot more accurately and get more eliminations.

Occasionally, I buy poor quality paint. In several instances, I've had to take about half a case home. I've noticed that if I end up 'aging' the paint in the recommended storage conditions, it ends up performing better than the original paint. I think it might have to do with the paint shell losing or gaining moisture from the envirnment and developing more favorable properties. Has anyone else run into this?Comment

What paint is that? Is your wal mart cutting you a deal or something. Here paint at wal mart is about average price when you compare it to field prices. $14.88 for 500 translates to about 64 bucks a case after taxes here. Or its something like 27 or 28 plus tax for the 1k count boxes. This is for RPS super swirl or that draxxus stuff. Not too shabby paint. Except super swirl is like extra hard, I've seen it bounce off of wooden bunkers.Originally posted by trevorjk
not unless you go to walmart and get the 2 month old stuff
20$ got me 3000 rounds
Wal mart is getting better with paint though. 2 years ago you didn't have this selection, today you go in and ou have the choice of 2 types of RPS, one type of draxxus and one of diablo. Those types are all pretty decent as long as its reasonably fresh. Here if you buy it at the sporting goods counter they will let you open it up and inspect it right there so there is no excuse for buying old crappy stuff.Comment

Most fields around here won't allow BYOP even though some have said they would pay a little extra on thier field fee to shoot what they want. So we are SOL here.
I shoot quality paint anyway. I would rather have a day where the paint shoots straight and breaks on target than have a crappy day where it breaks everywhere but on target.
